This was it. This was the day she had been waiting for her entire life. Petra was finally going to leave her life as a nobody and become a somebody. All she had to do was nail the most important interview of her life, get over her low self-esteem, and get ready to meet one of the greatest celebrities that the world had ever seen! Yep, this was gonna be a cinch.

And she totally wasn't being sarcastic, in case you couldn't tell.

Right now, Petra was sitting in a large room filled with numerous other candidates, each one hoping to get a role in the new upcoming movie that literally everyone was talking about: Pain and Healing. It was kind of a corny title in Petra's opinion, but hey, this movie was going to be directed by the great Stevack Snyberg himself, so who was she to judge?

As Petra's eyes scanned over the entire room, which was filled to the brim with people who had undeniably greater talent than herself, her already low self-esteem began to plummet. What the hell was I thinking?!, she thought in mortification. Me, an actress? Yeah, right! God, I never should've auditioned in the first place. But it's too late to back out now! I'm totally gonna embarrass myself in there! I'll become the laughingstock of the whole world! My life is ruined! Damn you, Peeta, for talking me into this! "Petra Mellark!," an old woman hollered, poking her head out the door. "Is there a Petra Mellark in this room?" Petra sighed. It's now or never. "Um, I-I'm Petra Mellark," she stuttered nervously, slowly standing up. The old woman raised an eyebrow. "Well, get a move on," she said sternly. "We don't have all day."

As she walked towards the audition room, she overheard some nearby people snickering to themselves. "That poor girl's gonna get eaten alive in the showbiz," one of them whispered, inciting more snickers. Petra hung her head and walked past the old woman, who closed the door behind them. "Don't feel too bad," she whispered into Petra's ear. "Those yahoos wouldn't know acting if it bit them in the ass." Petra smiled, feeling a little better. "Thanks, ma'am," she whispered back. Then, she saw the three judges who were about to decide her fate, sitting at a table on the other side of the room. Petra almost had a heart attack when she saw who two of the judges were. The one in the middle was Stevack Snyberg himself, famous for directing some of the most classic and sophisticated movies the world had ever seen. Strangely enough, he was also responsible for directing over-the-top action movies with explosions, unnecessary slow-mo, bad character development, and more explosions.

The judge sitting to his left was a young woman with blond hair, blue eyes, and rosy cheeks that were obviously the result of makeup. She was Alexandra Hamilton, one of the most famous and adored actresses in the world, as well as Petra's role model. She was most known for starring in the famous musical Hamilton. People everywhere said that there was no way the main character could be played by a girl, but she went and proved them wrong. She was also going to star as the main character in Pain and Healing. Again, such a corny title.

Sitting to the right of Stevack is someone who Petra had never seen before. He was a young man with brown, moppy hair and a friendly smile. He smiled at Petra and waved at her. Petra couldn't help but smile and wave back. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself, young lady?," asked Stevack, catching Petra off guard. "Oh! R-right!" She cleared her throat. "My name is Petra Mellark, and I'm auditioning for the new movie, Pain and Healing." "Petra...Mellark?," asked Stevack, raising an eyebrow. "Are you the younger sister of Peeta Mellark, the famous actor who starred as himself in the Hunger Games trilogy?" "Y-yes sir, one and the same," said Petra. "But...I don't want to get a role in this movie just because he's my brother. I want to earn it, you know?" Stevack nodded in understanding while the young man next to him clapped. "That's very admirable, Petra," he said. "Oh, and I'm Jesse, by the way. I'm also starring in this new movie." Petra smiled shyly. "It's nice to meet you, Jesse," she said.

"What do you think, Alex?," asked Stevack, turning to her. The famous actress only gave Petra a dismissive glance. "She doesn't look like much," she said in an arrogant tone. "Can't we pick someone else?" Petra felt like her heart had been stabbed upon hearing her role model, the person that she looked up to, dismissing her so casually. "Now, now, Alex," Stevack said, giving her a disapproving look. "The potential of an actress doesn't show on the surface. Let's give her a chance. This is an audition, after all." "Yeah, I agree with Mr. Snyberg," said Jesse. Alex rolled her eyes. "Fine," she sighed. "But if she ends up utterly failing, don't say I didn't warn you." Jesse glared at Alex, then looked at Petra with a smile. "Show us what you got."

Petra mentally squealed, then quickly composed herself. Okay, okay. This is your chance to show them what you're made of, so don't screw this up like you always do! You've been practicing with Peeta for so long. Just relax...take deep breaths...and act.

I was too lazy to write her audition process, so just pretend she did something amazing

When Petra finished, she opened her eyes and was shocked by what she saw. Jesse was applauding her with a beaming smile on his face. Stevack had his eyes closed, but a single tear was flowing down his cheek. Even Alex was taken aback by her performance, though she quickly tried to hide it by pretending to check her fingernails. "Petra Mellark, I hope you're a fan of good news...because you just wiped out every other audition we had with that performance!," Stevack declared loudly. "R-really?!," cried Petra, her eyes shining. "You mean you'll consider me for the part?!" "Even better!," said Stevack. "You're getting that role today! In fact..." The director turned to face the old woman who let Petra in. "...Mrs. Pherimont, inform the other candidates to pack up and leave! We have ourselves a new star, and she's right here in this room!" "WHAT?!," cried Jesse and Alex, though the latter sounded much angrier.

"Mr. Snyberg, are you sure that's wise?," Jesse asked hesitantly. "You're not even going to look at everyone else's auditions?" "I'm more sure than I've ever been!," said Stevack. "Go on, Mrs. Pherimont. Hop to it!" Mrs. Pherimont rolled her eyes and poked her head outside of the door. "Mr. Snyberg is no longer looking for new candidates!," she hollered. "He wants you all to go home!" There were numerous groans, whines, and complaints that could be heard from the other room. "Petra, here is the address for you to go to once we start shooting," said Stevack, giving her a slip of paper. "I want you to show up tomorrow, bright and early! Enjoy your last day of mediocrity, because soon, I am going to make you into a star!"
