A NEW FRIEND? ▶─────────
RIKU WAS SITTING ON A SEAT, at a public library not too far from the brothel. she was reading books about martial arts and motorcycle gangs. she finds it somehow intriguing, her friends at the brothel has been teaching her how to do self defense and how to fight, so she could protect herself without them. and she's been interested in motorcycle gangs either since her brother is a delinquent. she's making sure he wouldn't get in danger.
although she couldn't focus on reading the topics that much, her mind flies towards that random meeting she had with a stranger that unexpectedly became her friend. she didn't know what to do, it was most likely the first time for her to make friends without the help of her brother and all.
Riku is a very awkward person, and she's never interacted with anyone that isn't her brother and her friends at the brothel yet aside from the librarian she talks to when she borrows a book.
spacing out, she sees her brother outside the library waving at her. it was time for them to have lunch. it has already became a habit to Draken— on how he always comes and picks her up everytime at the library when it's time for them to eat, nor go home. it was also his duty as her brother, the only family he has left. she was very precious to him, and Draken definitely feels the same way.
as the young latter notices, she quickly stands up on her seat— making sure not to make too much noises as she puts the books back to its usual category places, she then walks towards the librarian to thank her for doing a good job with her work in the library and finally heads out to where her brother is.
"how was your day?" he asks the young latter as he pats her head. Draken was somehow injured by his delinquent senpais but he chose to hide it to his younger sister to prevent her from getting worried. althought, Riku already knows about it— yet she chose not to mention it, she knows what he thinks.
"it was fine, somehow. i've learned a lot of things again, like usual." she muses as she smiles, her eyes softening at her brother. Riku has always been so comfortable when she's around her brother, it's like the feeling she holds back to other people shows up out of nowhere when she's with Draken. she knows she was safe when he's there.
"that's great, Riku. now, where do you wanna have lunch today?" he asks his sibling while walking alongside her at the sidewalk with both of his arms on the back his head. today was rowdy, there are too many cars passing by and a lot of people shopping too. it frightens Riku a lot, knowing she's surrounded by people, and she hates the crowds.
Riku yet chose to not bother about it, know that she has her brother with her, he'll protect her when something ever happens. she trusts him very much over everything, what would've happened to her if Draken weren't there for her?
"can we go for tonkatsu today? i feel like having it." Riku answers as she fiddles with her fingers while both of her arms are behind her back. she somehow still couldn't handle the pressure of her anxiety and fear for crowds and noisy places. it was quite worrying.
"of course! i know a place. there's only a few costumers who visits there today, so you don't have to worry." Draken exclaims confidently as he flashes his sister a huge grin.
she's definitely grateful to have him.
"we'll have two tonkatsu please." the young male uttered out as he orders both his and his sister's lunch for today. Riku was already on a table, waiting for his brother— knowing that she could never bring herself to talk to the cashier to order food. she'd have a mental breakdown before she could even say anything.
Riku was planning on telling her brother about this one friend she made that night. she's really happy about it, yet confused at the same time. asking friendship advices would probably help her too. she hopes her friend doesn't ghost her or whatever.
"here. it's time to eat." he speaks as he puts down their plates filled with food one by one as he slowly sits down. "you should eat many today. you only had a few yesterday, you might get sick."
with that, Riku then nods, "alright. thank you for the food." and finally started to eat. she would never get tired of tonkatsu, no matter what. it's her second favorite aside from dorayaki and other more pastries and sweets.
"nii-san. i made a friend last night." she opened up, her eyes on her plate as she takes a bite of the pork. she was somehow proud, yet still confused.
"who? is it a girl? where did you guys meet? how old are they?" Draken bombards Riku with questions about this "friend" she just mentioned. he is very suspicious about this information he just recieved, knowing that his sister would never make a friend without his help. it's quite surprising.
he doesn't know if he should be proud, happy, or be concerned about this given situation. knowing that his anxiety filled younger sister has actually made a real friend that's a real person.
getting pressured by the questions her brother gives her— knowing damn well that she doesn't know a thing or two about this "friend" she made. who knows, what if he really was a kidnapper? or a leader of a delinquent group? a pedophile? no matter how hard Draken overthinks about it, Riku has already beat him to it. that's why she opened up to him.
despite the questions being a lot, Riku still managed to answer everything in one breathing— she then eats her tonkatsu again. there's obviously no point of lying about it, since there's nothing she should hide about.
"he said his name was Shinichiro. he's a male, and i met him at the park last night when you were away." she muses, her mouth slightly open for another tonkatsu to put in her mouth, as she shrubs down a bowl of rice as well. no one could ever beat the combination of tonkatsu and rice.
"a male? did he say something to you? what if he's a pedophile? how did you become friends?" Draken, then again, bombards his sister with more questions with a worringly tone. right after hearing the gender of this friend of hers, he immediately smelled danger and worry. no one would ever dare touch her, right?
of course, draken still thinks of her as the child she still was when they were still growing at the brothel. he swore to himself that he'd protect her no matter what— yet he was always away, to his delinquent ways, or so he says. if he wants to protect Riku from danger, he has to become strong.
he never even knew about Riku knowing self-defense and can fight throughly with no ease. at the same time, Riku also promised to protect her brother, Draken from any harm or danger. she wouldn't dare hesitate to hurt someone when it comes to people she feels at home with.
"nii-san. i was the one who asked him to be friends with me. on what i know, he has a younger sibling more like at my age too." she says, her eyes now gazing on her brother's as he tries to calm him down— knowing he's probably thinking that she'd be in danger or something. Riku somehow thinks it's impossible.
her friend, when they were talking together even just in a short time— it felt comfortable. Riku liked it, instead of feeling fear of meeting strangers. she felt comfort in him like how she feels when she's with her brother. Riku thinks that her friend, must be a great sibling.
