Avery’s POV:

Taking in a deep breath, I push open the double doors and just like a movie, everyone turns and glares at me. I freeze. Taking slow cautious steps, I make my way to my locker. Just my luck, the jocks and populars are standing in front of my locker.

“E… excuse me,” I stutter pathetically. I wish I wasn’t so scared. Their loud laughs ring through the busy hallways. Finally Nathan turns around and silences everyone with a simple wave of his hand.

Everybody turns their heads and watches the scene that’s about to unfold. He moves away from my locker and I stare at him in shock. Everybody’s jaw drops and if this was a cartoon then their jaws would be touching the ground. He smirks at me and gestures me to go to my locker. Slowly, I open my locker and reach in to get my book. Maybe things have changed. Maybe I won’t be bullied anymore and can finally have some happiness.

BANG! Oh fricken chicken nugget ouch. (Yeah, I don’t like swearing) The locker door slams on my hand. I guess I spoke too soon. Nothing’s changed and nothing ever will. Everybody laughs as I fight my tears back.

“Pathetic loser,” Nathan grumbles before punching my stomach. I crouch down as people wipe away their tears from laughing. Why does this happen to me. Seriously, why me? It’s as if God thinks I am some funny joker to make everyone laugh. Wait am I? Is this what’s supposed to happen? For me to never be happy?

Eventually I get up and limp my way to the back of the school. No one ever goes there and I find the quietness peaceful. Also, that’s the only place that makes me happy.

I follow the concrete path and see the bright green trees and blue sky. I turn my head to the left and see the old playground and two boys fighting. Looking back up at the sky I see…

WAIT WHAT?!?!?!? BOYS FIGHTING?!?!?! I snap my head to the left and see a fight going on. I rush towards the scene.

“STOP!!” my voice makes the boys stop and they turn their heads toward me. I glance between them and release the breath I was holding.

The boy with lots of tattoos running up and down his arms stalk towards me. I gulp and take slow steps back. He reaches towards me and grabs my arm. My yelp echoes around the quiet area. The mysterious boy holds a knife against my neck. My eyes widen and I start shaking.

“Sir, please let me go and I won’t tell anyone,” I choke. Tears are now freely running down my face. The other boy stares in shock before realisation dawns on him. He stalks towards us.

“Let the girl go Brian,” he growls. By now I have started hyperventilating.

“Now why should I Dylan?”

“She’s got nothing to do with this,”
