6: No name

Inpu's POV

Surprisingly, this monster seemed to be very obedient, well, good for it when we'll find a new use for it.

"Here we are." I said, holding the leash really tight.

"Took you long enough to bring that creature here." Cal said, the monster was shaking so much that I felt like it would have fell in a matter of seconds.

"You good?" Magnus asked looking at the short creature, who just looked at them in the eyes and quickly looked down.

"Y- yeah I'm o- ok..." It said, I let out a sigh and picked it up, making it yelp in surprise.

"Don't say anything, I'm just picking you up because you're shaking too much." I said with a annoyed tone, which I regret using now, because that just scared it more.

10 minutes later

We put the monster in a testing room that also had a communication system, purposely made for monsters.

"Ok, now all you have to do is answer some questions, got it?" Solis said, we all looked at Solis, then back at the monster

"I know, you have been telling me that for the past 10 minutes." It said.

"Ok so it has our same sense of time, that's good to know." Magnus said, writing everything on their note book.

"Let's start with the obvious question, what's your name?" I asked, and the monster backed up a bit before answering.

"I'm Bryan." It said.

Cute name, for such a monstrous being... WAIT, WHAT AM I THINKING!?
I need to stop thinking that this monster is cute or I'm going to lose my mind!
Not like I can date it anyways.

"Ok, do you have a second name?" Cal asked and the humanoid lizard raised an eyebrow.

"No, why would I need a second name?" It asked, Ricarro, who walked in a few seconds ago, started explaining why it needed a second name.

"Humans have two names and a last name because we use them for different occasions:
if we know the person we are talking to and we are close to them we use their first name, if we are talking to someone not so close we use their second name, and if we just met or we are in a formal conversation we use their last name." He explained.

"Oh... makes somewhat sense to me-" It answered.

"But, if I don't have a second name, or a last name, what am I going to do?" It asked.

"Good question, but we'll worry about that later." I answered.

"Wait, what are your guys' names?" It asked.

"I thought we were the ones asking questions, not the ones being asked questions, anyways I'm Konnor." Solis said.

"My second name is Keith, even tho I don't like this name, I can't really change it." Cal said.

"My second name is Ramiro, which is not that bad of a name." Ricarro said.

"Of course you like it-
Anyways, my second name is Taylor." Magnus said.

"And I'm Ray." I said.

"O- Ok I'll try to remember your names-" It answered.

"Now let's continue, I don't have all day." Magnus said, they were a bit annoyed because they want to know everything about this new species

"Yup." Solis said.

"Ok, let's start, how old are you?" Cal asked

"Uhm- I'm... 18 cycles..." It said.

"Cycles? What is that?" Solis asked.

"Cycles are years in monster culture." I answered.

"Ok, I'll keep that in mind." Magnus said.

"Would you like us to give you a second name?" I asked.

"S- sure... but I don't what kind of names I like..." It answered.

"Oh don't worry, we'll find something, hopefully-" Solis said

"How about... Russel?" Cal asked.

"...No..." The monster replied.

"Zack?" Ricarro said.

"...I like this one more, but still no..." It said.

"Ok fine, how about Sam?" Magnus asked.

"Sam? Like that asshole from yesterday?" I asked.

"You're right, let me try again, how about... Corey?" Magnus asked.

"I like this one!" The monster said.

"Nah, it's too childish." Cal said

"I thought the monster was supposed to choose it's name, not us-" I said.

"Yeah, but since we caught it, we have the right to choose it's name, that's what the law says." Cal replied.

"...Fine..." I said, making him smile

He always wins, how does he do that?- he's been able to since we were kids!

"Nikhil..?" Ricarro said, the monster shook his head.

"How about Jay?" I said.

"That name gives me sad memories-" Solis said.

"Oh right I forgot-" I said, that poor boy...

"How about Ry-" Solis was cut off.

"That's too similar to his name-" I said.

"How about Cade?" I said

"Oh dear-
That sounds like Fade from the horror show-" Magnus said.

"I like the name Cade tho...-" The monster said.

"No, you won't be called Cade and that's final." I said.

"...Fine..." The monster replied.

"Danny..?" I said.

"Nah..." The monster said.

"I think I have the perfect name for you..." I said.
