So I've done a little edit on this story that I haven't looked at in a long time. This story is part of a series of mini shorts that I'll be adding over time.
Enjoy 😉"Sid quit your whining or I'll physically fling you outside this cave myself!" Manny yelled, making the cave walls echo.
"B-but Manny?!" The sloth nervously exclaimed looking up at the big mammoth and out at the howling winter storm outside. Sid was twiddling his claws together, he did that when he was anxious I had noticed. I sighed curled up at the back of the cave with the Possums next to me. Others weren't joking about Manfreds or Manny as they call him, brawn, temper. His firm stance inflicted shivers that rippled through my body, though I figure that the cold might have just a little bit of responsibility for it. I could barely hold back my mumbling voice when talking to him. It is not that he is threatening, he just scares the wits out of me.
Sid shuffled his feet a few paces away from Manny, "I'm not going outside into that!" He said referring to the thick white powder that rained heavy sheets of snow onto the floor. "Besides-" He barely suppressed a gulp, "Who knows what kind of monsters would want me for dinner- like-like wolves or-or BEARS or-ummm s-sabers!!"
At that comment Diego lifted his head from where he lay next to Shira. "Let me guess someone like...Shira?" He smirked, glancing at the white saberess. The female saberess raised a brow in amusement.
Sid shuddered at that comment, "No not you!" He said with his fists sitting on his hips. "You wouldn't eat me if you tried," Which was probably true considering the sloth actually stunk like dung in a mud puddle. I didnt really care to comment on that. I was only here to heal after my accident. Besides I wouldnt think any of them would listen to me with all that fighting they keep doing. I dont think anyone could really tell Manny off, except for Ellie, Mannys wife. I dont know how she does it but Ive seen it and its almost like the fighting smacked into a glazier and obliterated into a million pieces. I swear it was all that sweetness she gave to calm him down.
I looked over to the other side of the cave and saw Ellie sitting next to Brooke. Brooke's new to the herd, apparently she is like 300 years old but looks any older then 22. It's only because of magical magnetic crystals that Brooke is able to stay in her youth for eternity. Im still trying to figure out how that is possible but I know Sid doesnt really care because the sloth is in deep love with her. Ellie and Brooke are definitely the nicest mammals out of the herd. I havent spoken to them much bu-
-Suddenly I heard a yelp coming from Sid and I turned to look at him. He had backed up against the cave wall to only be poked in the back by a pointy rock sticking out of the stone. He rubbed his back painfully.
"Look Sid. We just need a few more pieces of wood, that's all," Manny sighed. He had his trunk pressing against his forehead in frustration.
Sid only groaned in annoyance and made his way over to Brooke and sat down.
I think Manny then gave up after that. Because the large mammoth then went over to Ellie as well and sat down. Ellie gave a small smile to him and patted his trunk in comfort. "There is no need to keep worrying about it honey- we have plenty of wood," She quietly told him. "It will last us the night-besides" Ellie turned her head to look at me and when I looked at her our eyes met and I froze. "We have Georgie to worry about."
All pairs of eyes in the herd were now watching me and I hesitantly whimpered and laid my head back down so I wasnt looking at them anymore. I felt the soft pat touches from the possums on my trunk and I opened my eyes. I smiled meekly.
"Are you shy?" The possum with brown eyes asked with a little tilt to his head. I shrugged and he tilted his head more.
"Are you hurting in any way?" His brother with blue eyes asked me. I blinked. I thought these guys were deranged and now before me they ask if I'm feeling better. Well it had been at least 2 days since I was caught in the blizzard and that was something I'd want to forget completely. The herd definitely knew how to attend wounds and scrapes but I felt this aching pain in my left leg, it hurts whenever I put pressure on it. I guess it happened from tripping over something in the storm since I couldn't see anything from like 10 meters in front. I won't know until I start walking again.
