Peaches squealed in curiosity as another soft flake of snow landed on her tiny trunk. When she sneezed from the rest that followed and that tickled her nose, she giggled and stomped her fluffy, round feet in the snow. What a funny noise? As if that's what she had said if she could speak. But no, the infant was a day and a bit, literally. And what a funny way it was coming into the world; nothing at all down in the mysterious land of the dinosaurs looked like this powdery, soft, stuff, or the shades of blue, grey and white she gazed at around, but then POOF! After a terrifying escape from a white scaly beast and a race through a labyrinth maze of ice she came to discover the ICE AGE. Her home.
Ellie smiled warmly as her newborn baby giggled and frolicked in the snow, honking at the tiny snowflakes that fell from the sky. There wasn't a split second that she didn't feel proud that from now on, she would be labeled 'mother' It only made her heart leap with joy. Shifting her gaze away from the baby she looked upon her mammoth who walked up beside her. He smiled at her, 'proud' written all over his face. They both mirrored the same emotions and followed by the tiger, sloth and possums they gazed upon the new member together.
"Well isn't she just the most beautiful little baby I've ever seen!" Sid sighed happily.
"Don't get too attached,"Diego said. Then he blinked in surprise when Sid had already crawled his way up to Peaches, so he could be at her level, and started mumbling little 'cooing' high pitched noises her. Peaches, thinking the sloth was funny, began playing with his arms. She babbled as she swung her trunk around trying to grab a hold of his arm, yet, to no accomplishment. "Sid that's not how you play with a baby," Diego rolled his eyes. "Do you forget?"
Sid looked up at Diego which caused Peaches to look at him too.
"Oh and I suppose your an expert now?" Crash followed by Eddie came forward, his arms folded.
"Well considering we took it upon ourselves to deliver a human baby back to his father. Then yes,"
Then Peaches began to babble gibberish and wobbled over to Diego, who backed up slowly, clearly a little unsure about her getting close to him.
Manny walked over next to Ellie and watched as Peaches curiously reached her trunk out to the saber. "Baaa"She babbled. Diego stuttered. Then she leaned, forgetting she had to step and fell into the chest of Diego. Diego's eyes went wide but then when she began to nuzzle into his chest he smiled and a faint purr came from him.
"Hey kiddo," he cleared his throat and used a non clawed paw to pat her on the shoulder.
Ellie leaned into Manny's side nuzzling his cheek and wrapping her trunk around his. Manny glanced at his wife and returned a nuzzle back, he sighed happily. "How are you feeling?" He asked her.
The mammoth mother shifted her head so she could look at him and she sighed, tiredness beginning to strain her voice, "A little tired, but overjoyed." She said before yawning, "We have a beautiful little baby,"
Manny chuckled, "We very much do," Then the female mammoth chuckled because Peaches began deliberately falling on Sid, and giggling about it with the possums who were intriguing her to go on, the sloth was having a real hard time trying to gain oxygen after being squashed by a baby mammoth.
"Can't--breath!" He chocked. Peaches rolled off of him and noticed a larger mammal come towards her. She looked up, squinting cutely. Manny chuckled and reached his trunk down to pick her up. The baby babbled and pressed her trunk against his. Ellie walked up to them and used her trunk to caress the baby's cheek. Then the baby yawned.
"Looks like someone's tired already?" Manny said.
"Yeah I know right, I'm smashed!" Sid said brushing snow dust of his legs as he stood up.
Diego rolled his eyes, " He wasn't talking about you," Sid paused and looked up at Manny and Ellie who were holding Peaches. They looked at him in embarrassing silence.
Sid dusted the rest off himself slowly then cleared his throat, " uh you know what, I'ma--I'ma find something to eat before it's late," then the sloth waddled off.
Diego watched as he walked away, then the tiger pondered for moment and bit his lower lip, " I think I should go and make sure he doesn't get distracted. You know-- in case he goes and adopts some other dangerous animals offspring." The tiger whispered so Sid couldn't here then walked after him.
Ellie chuckled. "Well we don't want that happening again, now do we? She said wrapping her trunk around the baby from Manny's hold and bringing her to her chest. Peaches yawned then nuzzled her mother tiredly. Ellie smiled then looked up at Manny. " Should we head back to the village now?" She whispered
"Sounds like plan,"
So holding the baby, the brand new mother and father walked away leaving the danger of the lost world deep below the surface, and headed towards a bright, warm future towards the sun and there beyond a crazy new adventure.
"So just between us Ellie, we get to babysit more then Sid right?" Eddie asked now sitting atop her head.
"Mmmmmm, maybe," she said frankly.
"pleeeeeeeeeease" Crash asked.
"Pleeeesy weeeeesy cheeeeesy." Eddie said in a whiny voice.
"If you keep aggravating me or your sister you'll definitely not," Manny said. Here we have folks! The second mini short of the series. It's short but sweet ;)
