jisung's dad loads the boy's bags in the trunk of the taxi and the two step in, holding a small conversation until they board the train.

again, they can only talk for so long while jisung tries to keep his mind away from the mysterious guitar player from the beach. "jisung," his dad hums.

he turns, doing his best to shove his thoughts of the other in the back of his mind. "i'm sorry we didn't get to spend too much time together. i didn't know work would pick up that much. but, i promise next vacation time you get we'll hang out all day. maybe you can show me around the aquarium you and hyunjin went to."

his name, why did he have to say his name.

the train slowly comes to their stop and they walk to his mom's apartment minutes away. neither of them had extra for another taxi, jisung's dad only having enough for the train ride back.

when they reach the complex, his mom and felix are already waiting at the door. he hugs his dad and goes up, waving bye as the other does the same and walks back to the station.

"hi, baby," his mom smiles, hugging jisung close. "hey," he mumbles.

they go in and his mom cooks them lunch, catching up on the things all three of them did during the break. jisung makes sure to exclude hyunjin from all the details.

felix notices, seeing how some words slipped passed jisung's lips while others took a moment before they spilled.

after lunch, they go to their rooms, felix telling jisung's mom he wants to steal jisung for a bit; he missed his best friend. she, jokingly, reluctantly let him and the two talked until the sun begins to set.

he can tell the boy wants to let the tears fall, so he shuffles closer and hugs him. caressing him, he whispers, "it's going to be okay."

and with that, his tears muffled, jisung cries into felix's hoodie. "i feel so stupid," he hiccups. felix pulls him in closer and strokes his back. "why?"

why would something romantic for jisung last longer than a summer? was he not enough for hyunjin to want to stick around? his heart hurt for something that couldn't hold out for longer than his summer break.

it was stupid that it hurts him this much; nevertheless, it hurts.

but perhaps, one day he'll be enough for someone to stick around for longer than a summer.
