Back To "Normal"

For the ears of anyone who do not live in the Avengers compound, Drew was definitely not up until midnight last night. She definitely wasn't at Shield headquarters answering questions about what happened until 9:00. And she definitely wasn't watching Friends and eating ice cream until midnight.

The school sent out an email explaining that what happened yesterday was highly confidential and that the information can't leave the school, meaning you can't tell anyone what happened. Drew's class had a few additional protocols because Drew's in that class. The school will still be in session today.

It's 6:45 and Pepper has to drag Drew out of bed. "It's too early!" complains Drew. "It's 6:45 your normal wake-up time!" says Pepper. "It's not my fault I was up until midnight last night! That was you and everyone else's fault! I just participated!" says Drew. "Carol!" shouts Pepper. Carol arrives and says, "You called?" "Drew won't get ready for school," says Pepper. "We'll see about that," says Carol. Then she starts to tickle Drew making her jump up. "I'm up! I'm up! I'll start getting ready!" says Drew. "Good!" says Carol. "Thank you for your services!" says Pepper. "Anytime!" says Carol. "Come on, Drew! It's 7:00!" says Pepper.

Drew springs into action and gets ready quickly. She's ready to walk out the door at 7:45. "You know what to say if anyone not in your class asks questions?" asks Hope. "Yes. I say that it's confidential," says Drew. "Perfect!" says Hope. Drew says goodbye to everyone and walks out the door with Yelena and Bucky.

They arrive at school, and Drew is a little nervous about getting out of the car. Yelena and Bucky assure that everything will be okay. Drew agrees with them in the end, and she gets out of the vehicle.

A lot of kids stare at Drew as she walks to her classroom. Some whisper some things to their friends as she passes. Drew shrugs this off and keeps walking. She gets to her classroom and opens the door, unsure of what she'll find behind it. Addy runs up to her and almost knocks her over as she pulls Drew into a hug. "You came back!" says Addy. "Of course I did! I'd miss you and Shawn too much if I didn't," says Drew. Addy beams and pulls Drew inside. Shawn is ecstatic to see Drew. He almost trips over a desk as he dashes to greet her.

During snack, Drew gets a text. It's from Nat. It says Meet me in the front office ASAP. I need to tell you something. Drew sends a thumbs up and turns to Addy and Shawn, and says, "I'll be right back." They both nod, and Drew runs to the office. She sees Nat standing there. "Nat!" says Drew. She runs up to her and hugs her. "Hi, baby," says Nat. Drew smiles. Nat turns to the lady at the front desk and says, "Can I borrow Drew outside for a moment. She'll be back in a few minutes." "Yes, of course," says the lady at the front desk. "Thank you," says Nat.

She and Drew walk outside, and the door closes behind them. "What do you want to talk to me about?" asks Drew. "You, me, and Yelena have a mission. We leave tomorrow night, which means you'll be picked up from school early. I can't say much about the mission here, but when we get home, I'll tell you everything! Congratulations!" says Nat. "Yay!" says Drew. They hug again, and Nat is reluctant to let go. "You okay?" asks Drew. "Yeah. It was just a little scary seeing you after fighting yesterday. You reminded me of me when I was your age. I promise that I'm okay," says Nat. Drew nods. "Have a great rest of your day! See you after school!" says Nat. "See you! Bye!" says Drew, and she waves goodbye as she walks back into the front office. She smiles at the lady at the front desk, and she leaves the office and goes back to the lunch table where Addy and Shawn are. "Everything okay?" asks Addy. "Yep!" says Drew. She's super curious about what the mission is.

Time flies by, and Drew can't believe that it's already recess. She also can't believe that yesterday, she was smack talking to Hydra soldiers and fighting them right about now. Everyone is avoiding the part of the field where Drew fought yesterday. Drew, Addy, and Shawn are playing tag with some other kids in their class. Everyone swerves to avoid the battlefield. Drew personally finds this amusing. She weaves onto the battlefield, Addy shrieks, and Drew laughs. Then she twists out of the battlefield.
