Minutes turned into hours, hours turned into days. Michael's stay at Celestine and Eli's abode has become nothing but warm. He was welcomed like he was family. The doubts of Eli had gone away when he get to spend a few days with Michael at the bar every night after New Year's Day.
He was dubious of his presence since it's rare that you get to live with a complete stranger, but Michael has that natural effect on people that makes you want to be with him longer, and people will come to realize that they miss him and don't even realize it.
Eli felt that way. Michael was like the brother he never had. And for a short period of time that they've got to spend together, they seemed like they've known each other for years instead of weeks.
When it comes to Celestine, it's a different story. After that night at the little hill where they shared that moment, it never once left her mind. Coming home every night and seeing his angelic face cuddled up on the couch, with her blanket draped over his body, and some of his curls dangle on the side of his face, it tugged something in her heart that she cannot quite elucidate.
That spark they both felt stayed in their veins, patiently waiting to be rewired and reconnected again. Each time their eyes links even just a split second, both of their chests will start to strum a beat of their erratic hearts. Michael would blush, Celestine would hide her smile. They're like seven-year-olds having their first crushes.
Thankfully, it's not awkward or intimidating, in fact, it's quite the opposite. Whenever their together, their auras embrace each other's presence, making them both feel at ease in each other's company. At first, it was difficult for Celestine to get used to but as the days passed and they get to spend some time inside their home, their friendship starts to blossom into something more, and both of them are not really aware.
Michael, on the other hand, is growing fond of this place, and his decision to remain a little longer has helped him cope both physically and mentally. It was a comfort to be far away from the mayhem that the world had created to tarnish his reputation and the individuals who exploited him for their own gain. It's chaotic enough as it is, but this simple accident brought him the freedom and serenity he so well deserved.
It helped him clear his mind and this little time he get to be alone gave him the opportunity to be stronger and wiser in the decisions he makes and will make 'cause he knows that he has to face this bump on his road later after his peaceful stay at this little town of hers.
But for now, he's contented, spending nearly two weeks in a town where no one knows him became a blissful escape. It's like God gave him a chance to restart all over again.
A breath of fresh air.
As he spends the afternoon with Eli preparing for the opening of The Tope this evening, he wonders what could Janet or Jermaine, or any members of his family are thinking when he disappeared. The answer to that question is the only missing piece of the puzzle to settle his mind in peace.
