VIII. -And life continues II

"Good morning everyone~!"

"Good morning."

As Melly and Gendro walked into the room they met very excited gazes.

"Good morning!"

"Are we going outside now?"

"What will happen now?"

"Good morning Melly!"

"Good, morw- morning!

Seeing the small Zoe walking towards her Melly easily lifted her up.

"Ooh good morning Zoe~"

"Is it true that we are going outside?"

"Yes! You can now go outside and meet looooots of new friends!"

"Really?!"

"Mhm~!"

Melly strongly nodded as she gave Zoe into the arms of Nala.

Compared to Melly, who was in a great mood, Gendro seemed a little bit dispirited. He was a little bit out of it and blankly stared at the floor. The beastmen slightly wondered what happened to him but didn't dwell on it very long, after all, something more important was going on right now.

"Ok then,"

As Melly's begun her sentence, everyone became silent anticipating her next words.

"First of all, we have gathered quite a few jobs for which you could apply. But first of all! Gendro,... Gendrooo! Ey Gendro!"

Gendro got ripped out of his trance by Mellys increasingly annoyed voice. Surprised he looked up.

"Eh?- Ah- er oh yeah so first of all we are going to visit the places we found out where the families of some of you are staying."

"Right! So in the meantime, you guys can pick some of these jobs! After we come back we will show you your new workplace and where you can stay in the future"

Saying so, Melly gave a bunch of papers to the nearest beastmen. Next, she went towards Nir and Fynn and asked them to follow her.

Just like that Gendro and Melly left again, taking with them Nir and Fynn. The beastmen who were left behind apologetic looked into Verrs direction and got to the conclusion that she should be the first to pick a job.

Gendro, Melly, Fynn, and Nir arrived in front of a small house, well cottage to be precise. It laid on the outskirts of the city and was surrounded by similar-looking buildings.

Fynn took a deep breath, this may be where his wife was staying. On the way he got increasingly more excited, hoping to finally reunite with his wife. But now, that he actually stood in front of this house, which he never saw before he grew anxious, 'what if..what if this isn't my wife but someone else? W-what if she doesn't recognize me? What? What if she remarried?? No, she wouldn't! But, what if she doesn't.. want me anymore? I- I was a slave... the things I did... the- the things I did to survive... I-'

"Now! Don't be so nervous I'm sure everything is going to be alright!"

Melly said, encouragingly patting Fynn's back.

"You can open the door anytime."

Taking another deep breath Fynn mustered up the courage to go in front of the door. Gulping ones, he slowly moved his hand to the door.

<knock knock>

He lightly knocked on the door and waited. These few seconds he waited felt like an eternity. He could hear his heart racing as if it would jump right off his chest the next moment.

"Coming~"

A muffled female voice was heard through the door.

<clack>

The door opened and a small girl stood in the doorway. She slightly tilted her head at the strangers standing in front of the door. A woman quickly came to pick the girl up talking along the way.

"Ah! Tessy! I said you shouldn't open the doors to strangers-"

As the woman looked up at the people in front of her house she went silent. A look of shock flashed through her face before she quickly started to tear up,

"F-Fynn? Is, is that you?"

Her voice quivered as she looked at the men in front of her. Hearing her familiar voice and seeing the women he oh so loved Fynn couldn't hold back his tears. 

"Yes! It's me."

Just like that the pair just fell into each other's embrace. They wailed and cried their hearts out. Questioning each other where they have been what they were doing and how they are.

"...Mommy?"

The little girl asked hesitantly. She didn't know this man and she was confused about what's happening and why everyone was crying. Caught up in the emotions from her mother she too began to cry.

"Who is hweee?"

The girl asked while sobbing. Fynn also curiously looked at his wive. He also doesn't know about this child. The mother took a deep breath and answered,

"This is your father."

"Fa-ther?"

"Yes!"

Saying so the mother broke down in tears again.

" I...have a... child?"

Hearing the disbelieving words of her husband the woman Calmed down and started to explain that before Fynn left she was pregnant. She had to deliver and take care of her all by herself, always waiting for her husband who miraculously disappeared to come back again.

The little child, Tessy, tilted her head as she looked up at Fynn. Her big innocent and curious eyes blinked as she slowly opened her mouth.

"Daddy? I have a Daddy?"

Fynn couldn't even believe what happened at this moment. He always dreamed of seeing his wife again but now he even had a child? Overcome by fatherly emotions of this adorable girl calling him daddy he takes the girl into his arms and fought against the tears.

"Yeah..I am.. your Daddy! You have a father now."

Saying so he looked at his wife who suddenly thought that all those years fighting alone for herself and her child were worth it. She didn't want to cry anymore but she just couldn't help it as she saw her beloved husband together with their child. This is all she ever wished for.

"I have a Daddy! A Daddy like other kids!"

The mother chuckled,

"Yes, now you also have a father just like your friends. Isn't she Intelligent? She already knows how to speak fairly well!"

"She must come after her mother."

...

Seeing that the both of them had a lot of catching up to do Melly, Gendro and Nir decided to move to the house of Nir which was only a few blocks away.

In the end, Nir was happily received by his family and Gendro and Melly didn't have to take them to the others again. When Melly and Gendro returned the beastmen had already decided where they wanted to work and stay.

The bear and dog beastmen both chose to work as construction workers for a pretty big business that hired a lot of beastmen. Verr went to an orphanage to teach and take care of children hoping to maybe one day meet her sister again. After a small dispute between Verr and Nala, it got decided that Nala would take in Zoe. She would work at an Inn, which was owned and managed by a kind Beastmen. He would take them in and give them work.

And just like that, without any complaints or problems, life continued.
