a chant for courage
The woods are dark and deep,
The wind rushes, filled with whispers keen,
The leaves to the ground sweep,
A rustling carpet of decayed green.
A shaky step you take,
Along the path that seems to recede,
Leaves shadows in its wake,
As the red sun through tree tops does bleed.
Murmurs fill you with dread,
You recall the tales you have been told,
And panic numbs your head,
Unable to move, skin icy cold.Unbidden you recall tales you did hear,
Beings that lurk at this time of the year.Around you, darkness drapes,
A swish and a flicker in the gloom,
Catch sight of astral shapes,
And cold terror once again does loom.
You twist with darting eyes,
Wondering what's that flickering light,
Yet when the night owl cries,
You slip into familiar fright.
Amidst all things that creek,
Within you there is a tiny voice,
And gently it does speak,
Giving into fear is not a choice.Calm your thundering heart, gather your fears,
Hold onto courage, don't give into tears.Little heart, be steadfast,
Your beats, rhythm of a sturdy drum,
The darkness does not last,
Withal the long night, bright dawn will come.
Chant it slow, chant it loud,
Let it echo with every heartbeat,
When sun spills through the cloud
Wavering courage and light do meet.
Your soul is your true north,
Remember when your mind's in a daze,
Repeat it and set forth,
Walk your way out of the verdant maze.Step by step, even when the way's unclear,
Courage is simply strength to face your fear.

Prompt - write a poem capable of setting you free from the darkness and the maze, with a maximum of 500 words.
Note: Caim Symbol:
The Caim (Celtic Circle) - The Caim is one of the prominent symbols of Celtic culture and stands for protection and/or sanctuary. The term "Caim" in its Gaelic sense means both "circle" and "to bend," which is evident from the representation of the symbol, which looks like two circles woven together.
