Confessions & Parting Ways

The months have gone by quickly. Camp Kwangya is closing after everyone leaves today. I was packing when a singular knocked sounded on my cabin door. I opened the door finding Jeno & Jaemin. "What's up ?" They both looked nervous. It was odd. They were the most confident guys I knew so far. Why were they so anxious ? "Can we come in ?", Jeno asked barely looking me in the eyes.

I let them in. I was beginning to worry that something was wrong. "I..." Jaemin started, but never finished. What was up with them ? "Is something wrong ? The both of you are being odd." That is when Jeno finally spoke up in a rushed tone. "I--no we, like you." I was shocked to say the least. They like me ? It wasn't supposed to be hard to believe, but it was unexpected. Not one, but both of them ? 

"정말요? 둘 다 날 좋아해요? 진짜 짝사랑처럼?" (Really ? You both like me ? Like a genuine crush ?) They both nodded & handed me pendants. Had they made these the day we made bracelets ? how long had they bee holding onto these beautiful pendants ? "We don't expect you to choose, but we wanted to be honest about how we feel," Jeno said giving a subtle smile. 

I stared at them when Mark Oppa & Jisung  had come in to help me bring my stuff to the camp border. My mom was supposed to pick me up. "Wouldn't be awkward for you ? You both like me." The boy' gave me smiles, but their eyes said it all. However, they were willing to believe in whatever they lies they needed to sell themselves on. "장미씨, 괜찮을 거예요. 걱정 마세요." (We'll be fine, Jangmi. Don't worry.)

I put my gifted pendants around my neck before hugging each of them goodbye. I was sure the other boys' would meet me at the camp border for their goodbyes. It wasn't long before I was saying my goodbyes & making promises to keep in touch while I waited for my mother to show up.

A car soon parked. I recognized the car somewhat. I just figured a different family member had come to pick me up. I stopped in my tracks when my father had gotten out of the car with his new wife. "Jangmi, come on. I will be taking you home." I was absolutely furious as I made my way to the car. I hadn't seen him in so long. Why does he want to be there for me now ? 

I waved as soon as they car pulled off. My eyes glued to Jaemin & Jeno. Once out of view of the camp I fiddled with my pendants, & turned on some music to drown out my father. What happens now ? My summer of fun is now over...

Will I ever return ? Who will I choose ? Do I have to choose someone ?
