Chapter Three - Home
I woke to a bright light shining in my eyes.
Groaning I turned over to lay down on my back.
And then it dawned on me, this isn't my bedroom and I'm not on my bed.
Panicking, I bolted out of the bed or atleast tried until a wire connecting to my left arm stopped me.
The room was pure white with a disinfectant smell. There was a door across from the bed and there was an armchair to my right.
The door suddenly oppened and in walked a lady in a blue looking jumpsuit holding a clipboard.
"Where am I?" I asked
"Oh, you don't remember what happened to you?"
My hands started shaking, and my lungs started constricting making it harder to breath, and then the flash backes hit me full force. My whole body started shaking and I was making gasping noises, my eyes widened with fear, again I tried to leave the bed, when I felt a sharp pinch in my right hand wrist. I started flailing my arms.
"No....Nononononono!" I started screaming
"No let me go. I have to get help, he's hurt, he's..." I choked out a sob. Then my vision turned black and it felt like I was falling.
...............................
I woke to the feeling of someone stroking my hand, opening my eyes I looked up to see who the owner of the hand was. It was none other than my mom, looking sad and broken with bags under her eyes. I reached up and brushed back some of the hair in her face.
"I'm sorry." I said
Her Sobs started wracking her shoulders
"I'm so sorry. I never meant for that to happen. I only went back to tell them I was leaving. I knew the penalty for leaving but he wasn't suppose to be there. He wasn't suppose to-"
"Stop! No more please" She begged her grip on my arm tightening.
"It's ok. Everything will be ok" She said as she started stroking my hair trying to sooth us both.
After her break down she went silent, all the while just staring out the window at nothing.
"You know it would have been better if you had listened to us for once? If you had for once in your life tried to be the daughter we raised you to be" she stated breaking the silence.
"And it's your fault he's gone and you'll have to live with that for the rest of your life." and with that she got up and walked out without a spare glance.
...........................
I once again awoke to the gentle nudge of my shoulder.
"The doctors said that we can leave now, and that you only really have a broken rib or so and you should be on bed rest when we go home." Mom stated.
I slowly got up trying to ignore the pain in my side wincing every now and then.
"We're still moving by the way."
"I figured."
"You ready to get out of this antiseptic hell?" she asked shuddering at the smell of all the bleach.
"Definitely."
.........With that started my three weeks of boredom.............
Which brings me here, at this present moment, peeling a watermelon. I have finally seen everything there is to life. My bucket list is complete, that is if I even had one.
"Mom!"
Silence
"Mom!"
Silence
"Moooooommmm."
Silence
"Mother!"
Silence
"Mommy!"
"What do you want from my life child?"
"Hi" I said smiling sweetly
"Your face" she said
"Well I look like you. So your face."
"You- sometimes I don't even know why I bother" and with that she went back upstairs.
"I love you!" I yelled.
Looking out the window I saw a shadow move by.
Wanting so badly to check it out but knowing I shouldn't move around so much i stay put.
Still I wonder who it was.
