Mia woke with a start and wiped the drool from her face. She looked over at her father, who had his eyes closed. She could hear him breathing, but she wasn't sure if it was his own oxygen or the oxygen from the tank. His face was as pale as a ghost.
"I love you daddy," she whispered, taking his hand. All of a sudden, the machine started beeping.
"What's going on?" She cried. Doctors and nurses flooded into the room and she was pulled out.
"Daddy?!" She cried, confused. Blaine gave her a hug.
"Dad, what's happening?" She asked him. He didn't reply. He just stated at the door. They could see what was happening through the window: doctors pulling out defibrillators; nurses talking quietly. After that it was all a blur.
