Trey POV

As soon as I woke up, I decided to go make some scrambled eggs really quick for my mom. I went in the fridge and took out my leftover Chinese food I had from yesterday before I went to my dad's house.

I went to the guest room, the room she was staying in. My mother just sat there, staring into space.

"So look, I'm not staying in your house forever", my mother sighed.

"You damn sure not, we gonna go file a report on this dumb-dad", I said. My father got away with too much and he wasn't getting away with this.

"You're right but-", my mother was cut off by her phone ringing. She looked at her phone screen with an unsure face, then answered after it ringing one time.

"What do you want?", she immediately said answering.

"Where are you April? It's 8 o'clock in the morning and you left the house without even saying a word." The person was speaking so loudly I could hear every word from my bed.

Realizing it was my dad just got me extremely angry. How the fuck does he have the nerve to call her phone after laying his hands on her? This man's really crazy. I continued staring in my mother's direction to listen to their conversation with my eyebrows furrowed. I was still confused on why the hell they were even on the phone and what gave her the idea to even answer his ass.

I understood she knew him since high school and had a lot of love for him, but he didn't deserve so much chances.

Why? Because why give someone chances if they just gonna keep abusing them?

I knew she shouldn't have got back together with him. My mom's been so sad after my dad that even after relationships with other people, she still missed him. He must've been a whole different person than he was in high school because from what I've seen, he's not worth crying over.

"Listen, Claude", she paused. "I don't want to speak to you right now."

"You don't wanna speak to me? For what? What happened babe?"

"Babe?! What the-is wrong with him?! Mom hang up the phone", I interrupted.

She looked at me with an "you better shut up" expression.

She couldn't have seriously be having a conversation with a guy who abused her. I honestly hated my mom's sympathetic character.

"At least put it on speaker!"

She looked at me, sucked her teeth and put the phone on speaker quicker than I thought she would.

"Dad mom's not coming back to live with you. I don't know what the-what is wrong with you but you MUST be f-be crazy if you think Ima let mom come back in the same place you are after you
f-you hit her. Don't call back either one of us cause we want nothing to do with your ass."

That word slipped out and honestly I didn't even correct myself.

"Tremaine, first of all, you need to calm down", her tone changed to a more stern one.

I was surprised she didn't acknowledge me cursing.

"How the fu-mom how are you able to be so damn calm with him? He hit you! last night! In case you forgot! You seriously bout to forgive him?"

She sighed, and I just hung up the phone.

"Tr-", I cut her off.

"No mom, I'm 30 years old, rich and I have no reason to watch you get hit by anyone! At least not anymore. We're going to the police station and reporting him and getting him to jail TODAY, and yeah you're my mother, I have nothing but respect for you and respect your decisions but you're being way too nice!"
