    ___AT THE HOSPITAL__

The doctor fixed the emergency patient to the life support machines. A ventilator forced oxygen into his lungs and an intravenous line passed essentials into his body.

He turned to the patient's guardians; two men and a woman, "He's stable, but there's no telling when he would wake up. I'm sorry", he said and walked out of the ward.

The older man was comforting the woman, and they both looked intently at the younger man, "How did it happen Jim? Was he ill before? Did he take a hard fall?", they questioned

Jim ran his hands through his already unruly hair and pulled hard at it, "He did not. He was perfectly fine. I went into his room and I saw him laying on the bed. I thought he was asleep so I tried to wake him. When he didn't budge, I checked his breathing and it was shallow, so I called 911", he explained, agitated.

The woman just sobbed softly, "My son, my poor Eric".

The inside of the cottage was just as lovely as the outside. Striped curtains were drawn over arched windows, with a flower pot right beside the individual windows.

A sofa with soft, warm colors that had darker toned pillows sat directly opposite the door, slightly obstructing a hallway that led to the bedrooms. The kitchen door adjacent to the living room was open, and the lovely smell of cinnamon and apple butter wafted in, making Eric's mouth water.

"Make yourself comfortable. Would you like lunch?", she smiled.

Much later, they both sat down comfortably, facing each other, and his girl began a story; the story of her life.

"My father was the king of the Fae. He ruled justly and equitably among her subjects. But there was a yearning, a longing to visit, explore the other realms",

"And so he made a pact with the only faerie sorcerer in Fae Kingdom".

"He made a deal with the only faerie sorcerer in the kingdom, and in exchange for the ability to go out of our realm at will, he demanded for a direct link to the Ruling Bloodline.", she continued.

Comprehension slowly dawned on Eric, "That means that......", he looked at her for affirmation

She nodded sagely, "Yes. Their children had to get married. But he had a son, so the logical thing was for my dad to have a daughter."

"And he had you", he continued for her, "but I still don't get who your stepbrother is and how you are involved with him".

"I'm getting there", she teased. She topped off his cup of tea and he took a grateful sip.

"Then my father went to your realm, Earth, and met my mother. He wouldn't stop singing praises of her", she had a wistful expression on, "He said I had her eyes, an intense blue, almost purple colour, like her favorite flower, violets".

"He must have loved her very much".

"He did. They came back to the Fae realm together, and they had me soon after. But the sorcerer was dead before they came back. His widow said he had left a testament that my father must marry his widow", she further continued.

His tea leaked from his mouth, "Waahhh?"

She was deep into the past already, and she paid him no attention, "My parents were distraught, and my father was a honorable man who did not want to renege on his agreement, but he didn't know what to do".

"It all changed the day my mother died. My father told me they were taking a walk in the hills when she suddenly doubled over and foamed a foul dark substance from the mouth. He was no fool, he knew it was sorcery involved. As King of the Fae, he had some powers himself, but it was no match for the dark powers that was Sorcery. He managed to alleviate her pain, and he held her in close embrace until she passed. He buried her at that same spot, with a single violet that reminded him of the colour of her blue black tresses. He said I was her carbon copy, down to the shape of her ears".

A single tear dropped from Eric's eye.
