A few months have passed, and the same routine continued.

Bell and her mother would walk home together after school and stop by the flower shop. They would greet the owner and look around. One time the owner of the flower shop asked the small Bell, "Why do you want that flower that is dying?", to this question Bell answered, "I like that flower the most." And with those words, Bell surprised the owner of the flower. How can a child like a dying flower be more beautiful than a healthy one? Well, she was in fact different from the other child, she would always pick the oddest flower, mostly because that plant needed her more than the other strong and healthy ones. Because of that, she would like the most that little and defenceless flower.

When Bell and her mother arrived home, they went to their garden, that dying flower's new home. That flower was a petunia. Many other times Bell had brought petunias home, always one different from the other. Those were her favourite flowers.

The meaning of that flower can be contradictory. It can represent anger or resentment, and at the same time, it can symbolize the desire to not lose hope or a soothing nature.

Usually, people do say that a person's favourite flower does reflect who they are and how they feel. About Bell, that flower would give her hope and strength, she loved how such a delicate looking flower with little drops of water and her care would grow strong. Bell did want to grow the same way that flower did.

Bell truly loved petunias.
