Small Glimspe of the Past

Third PoV

Y : What do you mean I have to help them?

The boy stared at the principal in disbelief. Theresa was well aware that the boy was uninvited to the academy by the amount of hate he has been receiving these past few days. But her students were in danger, and Y/n is the only person she sees fit for the job as Himeko was still recovering from her injuries.

Theresa : Listen, after you deal with the problem, I will try to negotiate with the girls. How does that sound?

Y : *whispers* As if anyone would want to accept me...

T : What was that Y/n?

Y : Do whatever you want, I'm only helping them because I feel a bit rusty on my movements.

He left the office, leaving Theresa alone with her manga. She sat in her chair, thinking about Y/n said earlier.

T : Just what past did you endure Kuragari?

Your PoV

Y : This is the place.

Thunder roared and a lightning struck the earth upon my arrival. Pitch black darkness enveloped the city and the Honkai attacking the girls turned all of their attention towards me. Through that abyss, my red eyes stared into the souls of my next victims.

Y : Let the land be devoured by eternal darkness.

One by one they fall to the ground. The Dark Claw was imbued with dragon lightning, making defeating these guys much more easier. I froze the monsters and then struck them with lightning, killing them instantly. Taking up the initiative, the girls decided to fight alongside me.

Y : Don't question my presence, the principal sent me here to save your asses.

Girls : O-okay!

Y : ‘I was holding back. These monsters aren't worthy of my full power.’

After a few minutes, the monsters have been slain. The Hyperion was finally able to land, and we all made our way home. My stomach required immediate attention, so I decided to feast on instant ramen.

Kiana : Hey!

Y : *intense slurping*

K : Baka!

Y : *intense chewing*

K : Idiot!

Y : Someone left a child here? Let me call the police.

Ai-chan :

K : Why you!

Y : Here.

I tossed her another cup of instant noodles along with a pair of chopsticks. She looked at me suspiciously and threw the cup across the room.

K : Stop trying to act nice! You're plotting something against us aren't you!?

Fu Hua : Kiana! Stop this childish behavior!

K : Y-you guys know it too right?! There's no way a human can have superpowers! He's a monster!

Y : You're right, I'm no human.

I stood up from my seat and released a small portion of my power. The atmosphere intensifies and they fall to their knees. Even the Herrscher within Kiana was struggling to keep herself awake.

Y : But I don't want to fight any of you. The world has already suffered a great loss, and humanity may not even be able to achieve victory against the Honkai... As all things should at one point, return to oblivion.

K : You're wrong!

Y : You can't deny the truth, everything that exists must come to an end.

K : Even if the world does come to an end, that won't stop me from fighting for what's right! I will become the bestest valkyrja there ever was, and I will prove you wrong!

Y : *smiles* Your spirit is admirable Kiana.

K : *blushes* What a-are you talking about baka!

Y : Better start improving your grades! Being a valkyrja isn't just about strength you know?

K : *pouts* I'm trying my best...

Third PoV

The others were smiling at their interaction. It was nice to know that Kiana was finally starting to accept his presence. They eventually reached home. Y/n parted ways with the girls, before being intercepted by Himeko.

H : Where are you heading Kuragari?

Y : I have no place here. Have a nice night, major.

H : *shakes her head* The principal has invited you to stay with us. Think of it as a reward for saving the girls in that mission.

Y : I d-don't know...

Himeko sighs and dragged the boy back to the dorms.

M : Himeko-sensei! I-is that Y/n?

B : Hello Subject Y/n.

F : We were just going to have dinner. Feel free to join us.

K : Hmph! You better start eating before I finish all of the food!

But they did not know that their hospitality triggered a memory in Y/n's head. Blood, the screams of men and women alike, fleeing from something that was cloaked in darkness. Death lingered no matter where he went that even his home was not safe. This memory, caused the boy to drop to his knees. Y/n held his head in pain, screaming in absolute agony. Blood streamed down his eyes, it was like something was trying to escape from inside of him.

T : Y/N!

Y : Get away! I told you to leave me alone! I don't need any of this!

Kiana took the initiative and knelt down in front of his trembling form. She held his face with both of her hands trying to sooth his pain. Tears were mixed with the crimson liquid oozing from the corner of his eyes.

K : Calm down, we're here for you.

Y : Why? Why would you care for a monster like me?

K : That doesn't change the person you are... Fight it, and charge foward. I know you can do it...

Y/n's eyes returned to their original colours and his body went limp. Falling unconscious in Kiana's embrace. She carried him over to her room so that he could rest. When she touched his face, Y/n's past became more clear to her. The memories Kiana saw were full with nothing but sorrow, not a single happy moment. Even if he did experience joy, it would be stripped away by the monster that was cloaked in darkness.

K : ‘I'm sorry Y/n...’
