-dont sign up for anything that you aren't interested in. its pretty much a waste of time~

-colleges are looking for students that stay on one subject and don't continuously hop around. stay with something that you're interested in, and have some career choices to choose from. if you want to TRY another course, i recommend joining or making a club that are available after school. i've seen a lot of people crash and fail when it comes to this. it weakens your GPA- by a lot, and your confidence does go down. the overall cost can also be pretty expensive, not going to lie.

e.g- i had a friend named megan. she tried many different things, and did a lot more then she could handle. it was her sophomore year when she lost a lot of money, and her GPA went down by a lot. she became really stressed out and tired. she simply spent too much investing on clubs. now, she's a junior and financially struggling, and doesn't have a chosen career choice. she's depressed and has anxiety. PLEASE dont do what megan did.

~if no clubs are of interest, start one! don't invest too much in it, simply create a club that has your interests. it looks great on your resume, starting a club. its a really fun way to meet brand new, interesting, people. ask for permission to put flyers around the school, or advertise it. have a club with people that share your interests!

-get in touch with tutors/teachers

if you need help on homework or an assignment, ask before class is over. you can always run into problems, or technical difficulties if the assignment is digital. or, you can just have trouble on the work. asking questions is always ok! email a teacher if you need help, or get a tutor. if your parents are home, they are always helpful. getting information from the internet without sighting your source is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is NOT cool and you can actually get kicked out of school for a few days.

-go to school events and show school spirt!

for this, i recommend buying spirt wear and being active at the school. go to a sports game with some friends, or get a ticket for the school play. support your friends if they do sports! make sure to show your school pride, it can gain you some friends!

-people in older grades don't like "newbies."

be forewarned, most people in older grades are not the biggest fans of the younger, new students. it wastes a lot of time worrying about whether older students will like you, or landing a date with a "popular" older guy. focus on school, studying, and doing well so you can land a nice spot at the college you want. you can worry about dating a little later. soon enough, you can befriend someone nice. just be kind and you'll make some friends.

-popularity doesn't really matter.

honestly, popularity doesn't really matter. you'll eventually graduate, and you probably won't ever see these people again. it doesn't matter on whether everyone knows your name, it just matters that you got good grades. also, NEVER make your whole personality about being popular. the real world will come into the picture, and you'll get lost.
