THIRD PERSON POV
“Let’s go!” Yongsun announced cheerily. Her morning was perfect and it puts her at a good mood that could last the entire day.
“Yeah, let me just grab my keys.” Moonbyul shuffled over the bed side table.
“What’s wrong with my car?” The singer wonders.
“Well, your car is recognizable and the paparazzis could be just camping out of this building. Atleast, they don’t know mine and it’s fairly tinted. For your security.” Moonbyul grins as she held up her keys infront of her lover. She took Yongsun by the hand and pulled her out.
They made it to the parking lot and outside the building unhindered and no one seems to be following them as Moonbyul drives her to Eric’s company. A comfortable silence settles between them until Yongsun remembered something that she wanted to ask the driver.
“Byul-ah. I know it has been years but I wonder what you were doing all those years we were separated. Also, Yonghee unnie told me there was something you had to do before you can come back to me. What was it? Was it something that your mother asked of you that’s why you’re allowed to be with me now?” Yongsun’s hand landed on Moonbyul’s lap. She looks at her, waiting for answers.
It would be a long story to tell since leaving Korea but that could be told some other time. She decides to focus on the ones bothering Yongsun’s mind. She smiles pensively as she reminisces those five long years.
“You know my parents are into businesses right? Well, my father doesn’t really care much about my personal life as long as I am fit to take over them. My mother, on the other hand, she was more invested in controlling my life, everything. Just so there wouldn’t be space for mistakes.”
Yongsun hums, eyes still trained on Moonbyul.
“I gave them something that they couldn’t say ‘no’ to. It was a wager. The condition was, if in five years’ time, I tripled the company’s profit under my command then I’m out as the CEO, for good. I come back to you. Of course, they made sure I wasn’t contacting you or anything, thinking that somehow you’d get tired of waiting.”
“And if you don’t?” Yongsun asks worriedly. Her thumb running in soothing circles at Moonbyul’s leg.
“I would marry Yooa just as planned.”
“And you agreed to that wager?!! What if you had not accomplished the condition?!!” Yongsun was stunned. The possibility that she could have never had Moonbyul back was very likely. Moonbyul and Yooa could have ended up together if she had fail and it would be a painful event for the both of them.
“There was no way I’d lose to that. I had to do it. I had to because I love you and I promised you.” Moonbyul’s words replaced her lover’s panic with reassurance. She took the hand on her lap and put it in front of her, kissing Yongsun’s knuckles lovingly before returning it back on her lap.
“Yeah, you did.” Yongsun’s confirmation was almost a whisper as she finds herself on the brink of crying. It was the same with Moonbyul during those years, they were both struggling to find themselves and each other.
“I wouldn’t give all the credit to myself though…all my friends helped too. Yooa, Xiumin and Yonghee unnie included. I looked for your sister and it wasn’t easy. I finally made contact with her in Japan when we were doing some company merger. I used business as an excuse so I could befriend her and know how you were doing.”
