“Hey! Come here!” Yongsun beckons, her call was carried by the strong winds pushing past her and towards the grinning tall woman who is several steps away.
They’re back in Korea last night and Yongsun insisted they go in the morning to the seaside where they had their first date in high school. Moonbyul couldn’t resist her. How could she?
Those twinkling eyes that now sparkle under the bright sun light, her perfect nose that crinkles every now and then under the scorching heat, the lips curled perfectly into an innocent and contagious smile and her hair that whips against the air, all of it makes Moonbyul relive every moment, every memory of Yongsun. Her lovely Yongsun.
Being lab partners.
The party.
The rain at the park.
The festival.
The failed camping.
The date here.
Xiumin’s party.
Their first failed kiss.
The false wedding.
The vacation at the cabin.
Her birthday.
And now…
Yongsun is playing in the sand, feeling her toes buried deep in the hot wet sand and taking it out to run to the sea and when the waves comes, she’ll run right back like a child, wheezing and laughing. She looks like an angel with her light dress embroidered with red and yellow roses and dainty butterflies that seems to come alive as Yongsun whips herself around, turning and dancing.
Moonbyul tightened her hand on the velvety box she’s holding under the pocket of her loose board shorts. It took her days to choose this one. To choose this day. To choose the circumstances and chances of Yongsun wanting to go here.
Yongsun has been hinting of wanting to visit the place since they were in America but the possibility of it being on the day after they have arrived gave Moonbyul the right timing and opportunity to fix everything.
She approached Yongsun leisurely. She feels the wet sand under her feet and the impression is like how she’s feeling inside. Yongsun is no stranger to her but Moonbyul couldn’t help but feel a slight sinking from the pit of her stomach. She’s nervous.
“You walk too slow.” Yongsun lurched at Moonbyul. Her hands wrapped around Moonbyul’s nape as she pulls her in for a tender kiss.
When their faces parted, it was replaced with their gazes locked in on each other before Yongsun turns her back to Moonbyul and stares at the sea’s horizon that never seems to end. Moonbyul gave out a deep sigh.
“Remember the day we went out here?” Yongsun paused, then “I think I already loved you then.” She closes her eyes as she reminisces the feeling. It was the day when she felt that everything with Moonbyul was exhilarating but could be peaceful too, sad and happy, maddening but can be joyful, all of her perfects and flaws. She loves all of it.
“Yongsun.” Moonbyul calls her solemnly.
A hum escaped her lips to acknowledge the woman she loves. She turns then and finally see Moonbyul on one knee, a ring in hand and a pair of eyes earnestly looking up at her. Her face was in utter surprise for a split second before it transformed into an expression of pure joy and overflowing happiness.
