"red light green light? that kid game?" somebody scoffed "when the doll says green light, try to get to it before the timer ends," the announcer explained "but when it says red light, stop, if it catches you you will be eliminated" everyone whispered to each other, I looked around, and saw Eun-Hee, I was confused, she too was in debt? and who was watching my sister? I slowly looked back over, and as I did, I the corner of my eye I can see the masked people start lining up against the wall "I will state the rules again," she spoke again "when the doll says green light, try to get to it before the timer ends, but when it says red light, stop, if it catches you you will be eliminated, good luck" after that, the doll moved and faced the tree "green light!"
almost everyone hesitantly walking including me, besides two guys, who started booking it "red light!" everyone stopped quickly, but one of the guys stumbled, which caught the dolls attention. then everyone heard presumably a gun shot, and the guy falling over, the other dude seemed confused "___ has been eliminated" the women voice spoke, right before the doll did "green light" only a few people actually walked, the second guy nudged his collapsed friend and said something I couldn't hear, he then started running back to the big group "red light!" the doll speaking did not stop him from running, a gun did, splattering his blood on a women who was in front of him..... silence, until she screamed, causing everyone to run back to the doors, only about 150 stayed still, either because they didn't care, or were shocked, I stayed still, but everyone who was at the doors or were running away got shot, that had to be over 100 people dead
"I'll repeat the rules" it was the same female voice, she somehow sounded annoyed? "when the doll says green light, try to get to it before the timer ends, but when it says red light, stop, if it catches you you will be eliminated" you could hear the announcers click off "green light! the doll spoke up again, no one moved, besides the old man, who I suppose was that desperate "red light!" he stopped once the doll repeated itself "green light!" I guess the old man encouraged everyone else, because everyone who wasn't shocked with fear moved, I slowly did as well "red light!" I stopped right next to someone who was on the ground, but what I can tell from him by only moving my eyes on him, he looks like a divorced dad "green light!" I quickly put my hand out to help him "hurry we don't have enough ti-" "red light!" the doll interrupted me right as he reached for my hand, we probably both looked terrified, flinching twice at the sudden gunshots "green light!" he went back to grabbing my hand, letting me pull him up, and jog closer to the other line with the small amount of time we had "red light!" another few gunshots "green light" and we both ran
this continued for awhile, until eventually I barely made it in time, coughing and catching my breath as the ~15 people who didn't make it get shot, the masked people moved from the walls and went to their corresponding person "do you" I cough "happen to have any" I cough "water? I feel like im going to cough out my lung" he shook his head, at least he knows what im saying and is responding "can you help me walk? like give me support? my legs are going to fall off" I nervously laughed, he then sighed, putting my arm over his shoulder, and wrapping his arm around my waist, letting my lean heavily against him as we walked out a few doors
we were now in the bed room, I was on my bed, breathing heavily, trying to wrap my head around everything that just happened "hey" I silently jumped as I looked over at who greeted me, it was the man I helped earlier "thank you" I sat up "of course" he then leaned against the wall and slid down to the floor, sitting down, two other dudes came and did the same, the man thanked them as well
the main doors opened, and here came more masked people, everyone got up and gathered around them "all of you have made it passed the first game. congratulations." the square masked spoke "let me announce the results of the first game" the board on the wall started to change, the 4 changed into a 2, the 5 into a 0, and the 8 into 3 "out of 468 players, 255 were eliminated," everyone was shocked "and only 203 players completed the first game" more than half of the beginning players are dead, what kind of sick game is this? "sir! im so sorry, i'll make sure I pay off my debts! i'll pay them off at all cost!" a lady moved in front of the crowd, pleading on the floor to whoever hosts this game "please, sir! I have, a child, I haven't even registered my babies birth because I haven't named my baby yet! please let me leave!" I looked down, feeling bad for this lady "sir im so sorry!" another lady joined in "please, please spare my life! i'll find a way to pay off the debts" she too begged, and soon enough multiple people joined in, begging on the floor like dogs, they were ok with the humility just to get out of this horrible place "there seems to be a misunderstanding," the square mask spoke, with an unusually calm voice "we are not trying to hurt you, or collect your debts," "let me remind you that we're here to give you a chance-" "a chance!?" a male yelled "you call this a chance?! you kill us while playing kids games! how is this a chance?!" he argued
the square mask sighed "this is just a game-" "you're killing us!" he got interrupted yet again "they were eliminated for breaking the rules of the game" he is referring to those who died "if you just follow the rules of the game, you may leave safely, with the prize money-" he got interrupted by more yelling and arguing, he must've gotten tired of this cycle, he took out a smaller gun and shot the roof, causing everyone to silent down "consent form clause 2; a player who refuses to play will be eliminated" "consent form 3;" a man stated, he was the only one letting the square mask finish "games may be terminated, if majority agrees to it" everyone nodded, really quickly to agree with him "correct?" everyone turned back to the square mask "....that is correct" "so let us vote" again, everyone nodded "as you wish, we will take a vote to decide on the termination of the game" everyone sighed in relief, and those who begged on the ground got up "before you vote, let ,me announce the prize money accumulated from the first game"
he pressed a button on a remote, causing the lights to dim, followed my a casino game noise coming from the huge piggy above, soon a huge amount a money flooded the piggy bank "a total of 255 players were eliminated during the first game, a hundred million won is at stake for each player, therefore 25.5 billion won of prize money has been accumulated so far into the piggy bank" I had to hold onto a middle pole so that I wouldn't faint "if you wish to terminate the game, the 25.5 billion won will be evenly split between the families of those who have been eliminated, 100 million won each, leaving you all empty handed" everyone nervously looked at each other not sure what to do "e-excuse me?" I spoke up, causing everyone to look over at me "if we win all six games, how much do we get?" he went on to explain how since there were 458 players, there was a grand total of 45.8 billion won as the prize money, and since there were 203 players left, each on of us would get around 225.6 million won, and with that we were told the instructions for voting
the room was divided into half by white tape, everyone was told to stay on the same side until they voted "as you can see, there are two buttons in front of you, if you wish to continue played press the green button that has an 'O', if you wish to stop playing, press the red button with the 'X'' the square mask spoke softly still "the voting will be done in reverse order of your numbers on your chest, player 458, please cast your vote" I gulped as I walked ahead of the rest, followed by the triangle mask that was meant to watch over us and stood in front of the buttons

i held my breath as i slowly neared the button
