"Who was that?" asked Fishe.
"It was Quartz. Admiral Quartz." replied Poseidon. "Him being in charge is going to make this harder. He's the best admiral in the Pillar Imperium, last I heard. "
One of the most distinguished admirals within the Imperium, Quartz hafought for the Imperium ever since the Crusades.
"What did he want?"
"He gave us an ultimatum to back down, but we refused. Looks like we're about to find ourselves in a deadly battle."
"He said that some 'fun' was about to begin." A added
"Well, then let's give him some 'fun'." said Fishe
"I couldn't agree more. Let's get ready. We'll teach that arrogant Pillar a lesson." declared Poseidon.
Meanwhile, several cubeoids away, Quartz's ship drifted through space. One of the larger ships in the Imperium, it held the designation of Warship K75.
Currently, Quartz stood in front of a hologram generator. The hologram being generated was that of the controller of the Imperium - the Pillar Lord.
"You mean the entire high command of the Resistance is there?" asked the hologram
"It would appear so." replied Quartz.
"Surely you understand the criticality of this battle. If you can take out all of them at once, this war will be over in no time."
That was when Quartz's companion butted in. Strangely, he wasn't a Pillar. Rather, he was a Picardia - a race of beings that were essentially circles with a face on them and floating hands. This Picardia went by Adriano. "S'only 7 ships. They got a lot more, I'm sure."
The Pillar Lord's hologram then said "They don't have an admiral as skilled as Quartz. Quartz has tactics capable of taking down a fleet far stronger and more numerous than his own."
"Can confirm." said Quartz. "What do you want me to do, my lord?"
"Consult with your advisors and come up with a plan, that's what you're best at. Then carry it out. With a good enough strategy, you can beat those weaklings."
"Understood."
That was when Adriano added "Those satellites could screw em over! Try using those!"
"I like the way you think, Adriano." replied Quartz "It's a shame your people couldn't see your worth and kicked you out all that time ago."
"First chance I get, I'm blasting em all to bits."
"Excellent." said the Pillar Lord. "I assure you, my friend, that unlike the society that cast you out in the first place, the Alliance will treat you with the respect you deserve. Now, I'll leave you to the coming battle. Best of luck." and with that, the Lord's hologram vanished.
"It's time we decimate those fools. They won't know what's coming until it's too late!"
Thus began the Battle of Avalon.
A few cubeoids away, a Resistance ship - the Cetus - turned to attack a Pillar warship.
It fired on the ship - causing it to break apart instantly.
However, that was when another ship shot the Cetus.
The ship was immediately vaporized. All hands on deck died immediately.
This was watched from the deck of the Vanguard. "The Cetus took down one of the Pillar ships" said A.
