Truth or Dare

The room was cloaked in a veil of haze, the atmosphere fitting room's aesthetic. The assorted green chairs were pushed to the walls, leaving space for the odd mix of occupants to seat themselves in a semi-circle. The lamps that hung from the chains overhead illuminated the student's faces from obscure angles, some light reflecting off the surrounding stone.

"I can't believe I'm here," Hermione scoffed as she folded her arms across her chest, giving a mean side-eye in Ron's direction.

"You know, you're more than welcome to up and go." Fred's palm extended towards the door they had come through just an hour earlier.

"But I can't, dimwit. Filch is monitoring just outside, and I absolutely can't have a record for detention this year."

"Might as well stay for the drinks," George suggested as he leaned against the cushion of a high-backed chair.

"I don't want to attend this stupid party. And I'm not ever going to sneak you two into the Slytherin common room ever again."

"We got you, didn't we." Fred grinned as he nudged his brother. "Now why would you believe we need to study in here, of all places."

I listened to the trio's conversation as I waited for Blaise at the end of the hallway.

"Oh, stop staring for Merlin's sake, it disgusts me." Blaise's voice spoke from beside me, the clink of bottles echoing slightly.

    Speak of the devil.

    "Why so many bottles?"

"Pansy's coming in a few. It's just going to be us three and whoever else showed up."

    "So... no party?"

"No." Blaise let out a tired sigh. "Apparently, if Draco isn't the one spreading the word, then there's no point in throwing one. It's a no-go."

Blaise began to walk, and I followed. We took seats in front of the three Gryffindors, nearly completing the circle. Another pair of footsteps approached us, and Pansy sat beside me. I've never particularly enjoyed sitting on the floor of the common room, considering the dark green carpet provided no warmth against the cool stone beneath.

Blaise began to hand out bottles of whatever drink he had acquired, seeming proud of himself as the twins immediately took a swig, then another. Hermione took a bottle but placed it between her crossed legs, tapping the glass neck lightly. I turned to Blaise and Pansy, clinking the rim then the bottom of out bottles together in habit.

I didn't remember much of the night, other than the occasional pop of a bottle cap. It wasn't until a few hours later and a few goblets of water where I started to become more aware of my surroundings.

"Granger, it's your turn." Pansy's words had slurred in the time being, her forearm loosely resting on my shoulder.

"Alright, then." Hermione leaned on the palms of her hands as she surveyed the group before her, eventually landing on Blaise. "Truth or dare?"

    "Dare."

"Blaise, I dare you... to finish the rest of everyone's drinks."

Blaise simply shrugged as he leaned over and grabbed the twins' drinks, placing them in front of his crossed legs. He proceeded to grab Hermione's, Pansy's, then mine and placed them beside the others. In what seemed like a blink of an eye, he threw down the last empty bottle and burped loudly, earning a disgusted look from the Gryffindor.

"Now, now, now, Y/N... you know the question," Blaise proceeded.

"Dare." I spoke with the aid of the liquid confidence.

"You and Granger. I'm sure a kiss won't be too much of a hassle. Go on, get a move on."

"I'm getting back at you for this one, Zabini." I rolled my eyes playfully as I leaned over my crossed legs to crawl over to where Hermione sat.

Hermione's breath hitched at the sudden advancement, watching as I carefully placed either hand on the floor just outside of her knees. Her eyes trailed my lips and parted slightly, her eyes closing slowly. And I leaned forward.
