Holo's Birthday

Ryoko's pov.

Gon and I made it to the apartment. Holo was taking a nap and Killua was in the kitchen.

"Killua, Ryoko is going to tell us something important." Gon said

I walked into the kitchen and started by saying, "There's a reason for me and Holo to keep our distance from you guys. Well Holo shows it more than I do. Our old friends, that we were really close to..." I couldn't finish.

"What happened to them?" Killua said

"They died." I said tearing up

"What? How?" Gon said standing up

"Because of the Phantom Troupe." I said

"Why would they kill them?" Killua said

"Their names were Fremi and Chloe. Their parents were business partners and they were meeting a new client. They went with their parents and Holo was suppose to go. But Holo came up with a suprise for Fremi and Chloe to see them in the village. Now Holo blames herself for their death." I said

"Why it wasn't her fault?" Killua said

"She thinks it was, besides she was the one who found Chloe's body." I said

"You don't have to cry Ryoko." Gon said to me

Killua's pov.

No wonder Holo keeps her distance from everyone. When we first met she didn't want to speak to me and when she met Gon, she pushed him. It all makes sense now.

Gon was trying to calm Ryoko down, but she just couldn't stop.

"Don't tell Holo I told you and also tomorrow is her birthday," Ryoko said, "She doesn't enjoy her birthday anymore."

Why doesn't she?

That doesn't matter, all that matters is that she's ok.

Holo's pov.

I heard everything. I wanted to run away to keep them safe from me. I can't protect Ryoko anymore, I'm worthless now.

Today was my birthday great now only 23 more days till Fremi and Chloe deaths. I stayed in bed looking at my arm. I closed my eyes and sighed. I went to the kitchen and saw Killua by himself.

I walked slowly and was surprised when he yelled, "Happy Birthday!"

I just stared at him and looked away, "Thank you." I didn't want to be mean.

"Ryoko and Gon are getting a cake for you and it's chocolate." He said

I got an apple and took a bite out of it, "That's nice."

"I need to do something, but you can stay here if you want." He said closing the door behind him.

I looked outside the window. I threw away the apple seeds and went back to bed hoping I can sleep for the day. I couldn't sleep and my arm still hurts.

Ryoko, Gon and Killua came back and they had a fantastic time. I just played along to this and hopefully it'll be over.

"Holo, time to open your presents." Ryoko said with joy

I opened Ryoko's gift, then Gon and Killua's was last. After I opened it, i was surprised. It was a necklace of a wolf and I loved it.

"Thank you all for the presents." I said trying to sound normal

"You should cut the cake now." Killua said. Isn't he a dream boat he knows exactly what I wanted and I didn't even know I wanted it.

Ryoko's pov.

Holo opened Killua's present and she looked suprised. Killua gave her a necklace of a wolf. She probably loves it, but she just doesn't want to show it.

"Thank you for all the presents." Holo said trying to sound normal

"You should cut the cake now." Killua said

Gon got the cake and placed it in front of Holo. The candles were burning a orange, yellow color.

That color... the color the village ruins. I backed away, wanting to run. Holo also back away from the candles light. Gon and Killua were probably confused by now.

"Holo, Ryoko what's wrong?" Gon and Killua said at the same time running to us.

My hand were on my head as I went to the corner and closed my eyes. A little while after that, I began to cry.

"Burn...out...the...candle." I could barely speak

Killua did as I said and Holo couldn't do this anymore.

"It's probably best if we go to sleep." I said for myself and for Holo. Mostly for Holo.

"Goodnight then." Killua and Gon said to us

"Goodnight." We said walking to our bed.

I went to the other bed, Holo deserves to sleep by herself today.
