The timer above the doors showed that bedtime would be in 30 minutes."Something's going to happen tonight." Your instinct told you so. You saw that people were grouping up.
You looked at Deok-su and his gang. They definitely looked like they were planning something.
"Let's stick together tonight..." At this moment, Deok-su had turned around and looked at 067. Then at you. You could definitely see the killer intent in his eyes.
You weren't a weak person, but out here, there was definitely strength in numbers.
"Hey." You looked up to see 456. He had walked up in front of you. "Tonight, if anything happens, we'll all meet in my bed right there."
There was a moment of silence. "Are you in?"
067 turned her head away. "I don't trust people. And that's twice as true for anyone who'd end up in here. Got it?"
You felt a little hurt for some reason, but you knew you couldn't trust anyone either.
Not even her.
"You think that's how it works, huh? Listen, you don't trust people here because you can. You do it because you don't have anybody else." His eyes traveled back in forth between you and 067.
When it seemed like the conversation was over, he walked away.
"Players, lights-out in two minutes."
You broke the silence. "Hey, can I ask you a question?"
"You just did," 067 responded coldly.
"Right...then another question. What's your name?"
She turned her head to look at you. "Why?"
"I don't know, just thought it'd be nice to put a name to your face." You shrugged carelessly, even though this was a question you desperately wanted answered.
"Sae-Byeok. Kang Sae-Byeok."
"Hm. I like that name. It's pretty-suits you perfectly." You smiled.
"And your name?" Your smile faded.
"Y/n. I don't know what my family name is." You looked at the ground. Your family name was always kept secret from you. No one wanted you to reveal just how terrible a family of famous billionaires were. It would certainly mean the end of their careers.
"Lights out in 30 seconds."
Everyone around you started to move, climbing into bed, up to the highest bunks if possible. You got up and 067 followed you to your section. Your bed was on top, so it would be hard for someone to attack you without you knowing.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."
The room turned pitch black. Now you could only rely on your hearing. All you heard were the silent breaths of the girl laying next to you.
Then you heard a blood-curdling scream. Both you and Sae-Byeok jumped up, your hand accidentally covering hers in the space between you two.
Her hand was soft and cool.
She didn't seem to notice until you removed your hand. She wouldn't admit it, but your touch made her feel like she wasn't alone. It made her feel safe.
The players around you starting clamoring and screaming in panic.
Then all of the sudden, the lights flickered on, but just as quickly, they turned off. They continued to do this, going back and forth, not making it any easier to see.
