So I guess we hit a nerve. At least I got an answer to my question, wonder why I didn't guess sooner.
Also, I'm on time-out now and back in the Antivoid. I didn't even say anything, but it's reasonable for Error to assume I would make the situation worse. It's pretty easy to get out of Error's strings unattended because I don't really have a soul, so now I'm free to wander a very empty white space. I'm considering just going back to sleep at this point, since I can't open portals or do much of anything. I could always tear some strings down and try to knit, but guaranteed if I ever got caught doing that I'd die a third time. There's really nothing I can do that will entertain me, so sleep is the best option. After all, I was interrupted last time.
This plan does not end up working. My back is causing me too much trouble, and my lungs aren't doing the greatest. Also, I had no idea that if I was in the Antivoid, and Error was god knows where, I would get pulled through spacetime and end up there too. In no way was I aware of this at all. I have not opened my eyes yet but I can definitely tell I'm back with Error, and that the ground is really really cold.
"What the fuck? What are you doing here??" I don't think he's very happy to see me.
"I have no idea! Crazy shit haha! Don't kill me again please!"
"Get up. If you're going to be here you're going to shut the fuck up and follow me."
"Yeah, yeah--" I get on my feet with much trouble. My body feels like it could fail me at any moment. "You should beat around the bush more. Getting straight to the point isn't very friendly."
"Being friendly isn't what I'm good at. And I'm not about to practice getting better at it."
"I can tell. You're really mean and honestly you hurt my feelings." I make a mockingly sad face at Error. He doesn't see it, because apparently his number one goal is having his back turned on me today.
"I do not give a shit about your feelings. I have things I need to be doing."
"Hah! Yeah right, like what? Pacing? After all, you said you took it up as a daily activity. Just recently, too."
"Do not use my words against me or your back won't be the only thing that's broken," He didn't like that. Oops. "I may not be able to kill you, but if you push me any fucking further you'll wish I could."
"Woah big guy, don't kick me while I'm down. What is stopping you from killing me though, hm?"
"Just moments ago you were cowering in fear on the ground, pleading that I don't kill you a second time. What happened to that?"
"Yeah, that's because I was just dragged through space-time and on the ground. So what's your reason for not killing me?"
Error is less than happy with this. Shit, you'd think I've learned from being killed, but apparently not! He grabs the neck of my sweater and brings me down to his height, 'cause he's like 5"4.
"You have heard enough from me. I made it clear that if you were to follow me, you would shut the fuck up. So get on that. Now."
He can be really scary. It may not seem that way over text, but there's something terrifying about a living skeleton with the purest look of rage in his eyes. Jesus.
"Right! Okay! Let me go now and don't strangle me! I'll be quiet!"
"Can we avoid threatening death in public? You both realize Outertale isn't the Antivoid, right..?" That's Voice 1 talking, finally a voice of reason. I wonder if they've been watching this go down and silently judging my horrible decisions. Error let go of my sweater and turned his back on me, trying to collect himself I assume. I can only hope it's working because I don't want to get hurt, not with my current condition.
Wait a minute. We're in Outertale?
I hadn't fully processed my surroundings when I got here. But now that I'm not fighting with Error, it's all being realized at once. Shit, this must be serious, he doesn't just go out in public in his free time. Anyone could see him, and he's a bit of a criminal everywhere in the multiverse. What could he possibly need from here, of all the AUs?
"Why are we in Outertale? You come to look at the stars or somethin'?"
"Hsshhhhhshhshsh! Don't get him mad again! After you left, he yelled at me for like ten minutes before opening the portal!" Voice 1 says in a very hushed tone.
"Alright, alright," I lower my voice. "I'll try not to pick any fights with him."
"Not just with him, with everyone!" I roll my eyes and stay quiet as Error starts walking again. I haven't got a clue where we're going, honestly, but I'm not looking forward to being seen by people. Hopefully this bitch knows how to be stealthy, because I'm not saving his ass if he gets arrested.
He's done a pretty good job of maneuvering around people, and has only murdered one innocent civilian so far, which is better than I expected of him. Neither me or Voice 1 have said a single word yet, I'd say the same for Error but he did tell us not to look when he killed someone. Points for the warning I guess, but we could do without manslaughter right now.
"God, can we please take a break? I get you're not keen on sleeping, but you've woken me up two times today and I'm really tired."
"You'll stay awake until I find who I'm looking for."
"Sorry, you said who--!?" I'm cut off by Voice 1.
"SHUT IT! What did I tell you earlier!?"
"To avoid pissing him off, whatever. Do you want answers or no?"
"Not at the cost of my life! You're a hazard to be around, I swear--" This time Voice 1 is interrupted by Error.
"Yes, I said 'who'. Stop bickering and pay attention to not getting caught."
"Fine, fine." I say, sighing slightly.
A moment passes. Something clicks in my mind.
"Is it Blue you're looking for?"
For a second I think that he's really gonna kill me again. But regarding the topic, I know why he won't.
Error stops walking. I can almost hear Voice 1 holding their metaphysical breath. The energy is tense.
"If I answer, will you at least be of some use from this point forward?"
"Possibly."
"Make it a yes, or I'm throwing you into a large crowd of people."
"Fine."
He doesn't say anything, doesn't turn to face me. Even then I can still see he takes a breath.
"You're right." He exhales. "I am looking for him. Don't bring it up again." I smile. Victory is mine, and I live another day!
"Aye aye, captain."
"You could have said something, anything other than that, and you didn't."
"You'd be right!"
I feel like at this point, he's come to expect this behaviour. His reaction is frustrated yet tame, for him at least.
"Whatever. At least you'll be useful now."
"Oh, no. I've changed my mind. I'm gonna be just as useless as before." Voice 1 snickers a bit. Nice to know I've cut the tension a little.
"My offer of getting thrown into a crowd still stands."
"Hah, I'll pass."
He continues walking, I follow close behind.
You've gotta tread light when it comes to Error. I think I do a decent job of avoiding all the mines on the field. I hate his gut and it's safe to say he hates mine too, but if it means Blue comes back and I get to sleep, I'll cooperate just this once.
