"Sam, I don't know," Y/N turned to him in the passenger seat, pleading with her eyes to just let her go home.  Bucky and Aaron were seated at the back, tagging along with the other two and invested in their conversation.

Sam had suggested, no, insisted, that Y/N should let Isaiah know that it was she who had been manipulating and messing up with his mind when he was captured and thrown in prison while they took his blood for testing him like a lab rat.

"Y/N, he deserves to know," Sam argued, "You—"

"I know I messed up with his mind. I just—" she ran a hand through her hair, "I don't know if I can face him."

"You need to free yourself from it," he said soothingly, "It's been eating you up ever since Bucky brought us to him. I know. Don't turn that into something dirty," he raised a finger sternly when Y/N smirked.

"Okay," she nodded curtly, turning to watch the passing streets out of the window.

After pulling up in front of Isaiah's house, Sam led Y/N and she watched him converse and talk with Isaiah with wide smiles and high spirits about Sam owning up t the shield and overcoming his fears.

"Y/N," Sam gave her a meaningful look that meant, 'Do it now. Just rip it out like a band-aid'.

Gulping, she turned to face the supersoldier, "Uh, Isaiah?"

"Yes, dear?" he gave her a kind smile, which only increased her guilt.

"Er, when you were imprisoned, do you remember reliving your worst fears whenever you failed to cooperate?" she said slowly.

"Uh-huh," Isaiah's expression morphed into a stone-cold one.

"That was me. I made you see those," Y/N grimaced in regret, "I didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry," her vision started to blur, "For all the pain I've caused."

While Sam and Y/N had entered the old supersoldier's house, Aaron and Bucky remained beside the car. Bucky stood outside, leaning on his side, whereas Aaron was peeping out of the open window of the back seat.

He was teaching Bucky how to use a particular feature on his smartphone, that thoroughly entertained and amused the hundred-year-old greatly.

"So you're 200 years old?" Aaron rested his elbow on the open window of the car and chin on his palm.

"106," Bucky corrected, pressing his thumb and forefinger together, "There's a lot of difference."

"But Sam─"

The man rolled his eyes, "He doesn't know what he's doing half the time. "

"Neither do you," he reasoned, "According to Sam, mo─Y/N keeps you guys in check and saves your asses whenever needed."

"Yeah─" his eyes widened and he slowly turned to face him, "Don't use that word! You're like 12."

"Okay," Aaron grinned cheekily, "No promises, though."

"And were you about to call Y/N, 'mom'," now it was Bucky's turn to grin.

The tween flushed pink with wide eyes, "Er, maybe," he trailed with an embarrassed smile.

Bucky opened his mouth to speak, but then his attention was diverted when he caught sight of Y/N approaching them from his peripheral vision. "How'd it go?"

Y/N shrugged weakly, lifting her shoulders and letting them fall loosely with her head hanging low and hands in the pocket of her high waist jeans.

"It's okay, doll," Bucky rested his hand on the back of her head and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead.

"I—" she took a deep breath, "I don't understand this power," she glanced at her hands and then back at Isaiah's house, "But I will."
