The school bell rang louder than Stu would have liked it to.

It was a typical sophomore year Friday, every student either ditching by sixth period or falling asleep in the last three. Stu, among them, struggled to get up out of his seat and grab his bag to run out the door and find his friends after a nap that wasn't nearly long enough. Most nights, if not all of them, Stu's friend group would go to his own house (unless his parents were home-which wasn't often-they'd go to Randy's) to get crossfaded and gossip about the latest drama regarding who fucked who and who cheated on whoever. The latter wasn't something Stu was particularly fond of lately as he and Casey were having a "shitty, fucked up time in the relationship" as he put it, so Tatum was always trying to get everyone to move on from the topic. Of course, none of them really cared.

Walking out of the classroom Stu was greeted with a wack to the back of the head from his douchebag buddy Billy, promptly shoving him back in response with a "What the hell, man?". The two bickered back and forth, strolling out of the building to their regular spot on the curb of the garden in the front courtyard. No one seemed to be there yet.

"Where's the rest of the Loser's club?" Stu asked with a cock of his head towards Billy.

"Tatum and Sidney are doing some stupid project so they said they can't hang out. Randy's on a family trip, not coming back 'til Sunday. I assume Casey's ditching you again," he noted with a chuckle.

"Shut the fuck up, Billy."

Billy brushed his hair out of his face, eyes squinting from the sun, and scanned the street for anyone he knew. Couldn't find a soul he wanted to waste his time with. Stu included.

It was quiet. Well, not actually, considering the hums and squeaks from the buses and hundreds of nearby conversations that wouldn't matter in an hour. But it was quiet between the two of them. Awkward, even.

Stu fidgeted with some loose strings falling off his bag. "Wanna come to my place?"

Tough question. Billy and Stu had never hung out alone before, not by their choice. They'd been left alone before if their friends went to grab a beer or some snacks; they'd also been left alone at Billy's once or twice to work on school assignments where they both had to sit in the kitchen, Billy's parents always harping over them. The idea seemed foreign.

Billy rolled his neck. "Uhhhh. Maybe. I don't know. I guess so. I gotta tell my mom if I'm gonna go out, so it'll be a while."

"Ok, cool."
