The following morning, Katie woke up with the sunrise. The noise of Monday morning traffic and sunshine peeking through her curtains forced her awake. It wasn't until she opened her eyes that her mind reminded her of last night's adventures.

Not even the unusual feeling of Aurora's warm body wrapped up beside her startled her awake. As foreign as the feeling was of someone else sound asleep in her bed, she found comfort and familiarity in Aurora's warmth.

Katie laid there for a while, wrapping her head around last night.. How quickly she was to come to Aurora's aid, how hard it was for her to say no when Aurora held her hand, pressing her to sleep with her rather than on the couch or how she tucked Aurora's hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek goodnight.

Katie took in Aurora's features. Her blonde, messy curls cascaded across her pillow. Her smeared makeup, even while on all night, provoked no blemishes. The way her mouth had fallen open a bit during the night.

Katie felt an unfamiliar pull on her heartstrings as she watched the younger woman sleep next to her.

Katie slipped out from underneath Aurora's arm without waking her. She slid her feet into her slippers and wrapped her black silk robe around her slim body before sneaking out of the room.

She made herself a cup of coffee and opened her curtains before she stationed herself at her desk in the far right corner. Katie didn't bother turning on the TV, not wanting to wake Aurora up. She sat there, putting together lesson plans for the next few weeks.

"Do you ever do anything other than work?"

Her silent arrival startled Katie, causing her to jump. Aurora apologized as she rounded the corner, standing in the middle of Katie's apartment. She stood there, dressed in her clothes from last night, hair up in a messy bun.

"Speaking of things other than work, did we..." Aurora trailed off, assuming Katie understood.

Katie's eyes went wide as she caught onto Aurora's assumption. "No, oh god no."

Aurora snickered, "Your certainty of not sleeping with me makes my self-confidence feel really great."

Katie stood up from her desk. "I didn't mean it like that! What I meant was you were really drunk, and I'd never take advantage of you."

Aurora's cheeks became warm as she smiled. "I'm just teasing, Katie. I know you're a real gentlewoman."

"I'm not sure gentle is the right word," Katie said, causing Aurora to choke.

"Do you want breakfast?" Katie changed the subject as she made her way to the kitchen.

"If you made a batch of those delicious chocolate chip waffles again, I wouldn't complain." Aurora circled around, leaning against the kitchen island.

With very little haggle from Aurora, Katie caved, collecting the ingredients for waffles. Aurora sat watched as Katie cooked.

To both ladies, their current situation felt domestic. Neither of them were brave enough to admit how much they liked it. Waking up together, drinking coffee together. Just being in each other's presence that didn't comprise twenty other students or government-issued furniture.

It didn't take long for Katie to push two plates of chocolate chip waffles onto the island, taking a seat next to Aurora.

Aurora passed the imported maple syrup from Canada over to Katie. "I want to apologize for calling your personal cell last night."

"Don't be. I'm just glad you're safe."

Aurora cut her waffles into squares, dipping two of them in maple syrup before shoveling them into her mouth. Aurora's eyes fluttered shut as she let out a throaty moan. The moan sent shivers down Katie's spine that settled in between her legs.
