It was just another day in King's Cross train station. People dressed in various kinds of clothes were rushing and bustling all over the place, some of them pulling brightly colored luggage bags behinds them, while others just brought themselves. Scattered crowds of eager people stood amongst the doors leading into their trains, impatiently waiting to go in.Amidst all the hubbub, a teary family could be seen standing in front of the brick wall that divided platforms nine and ten.
"Remember to write to us once a week, okay?" There was not a single moment when Rosette Lysander did not worry about her children, especially now that her eldest girl was leaving for some magic school on the other side of the country. At the start, she had flatly refused to even consider it, but in an unexpected turn of events, she had finally accepted that it was the best option for her dear Luette.
The man beside her had his arm draped affectionately on his beloved daughter's shoulders. Truly, actions spoke louder than words, as Ophelius tightly embraced the girl, wishing to the bottom of his heart for the hundredth time that she did not have to go.
Luette smiled softly and returned the hug, winking at the sulky youngster hiding behind their mother. Lydia stared up at her sister, with a strong mixture of emotions blazing across her face. "Dia, are you not going miss your dear sister?" The taller girl pouted, escaping her father's suffocating hug and held her arms wide at the huffy child.
"Hell no. Dream on!" Lydia Lysander crossed her arms and stuck her tongue out at her grinning sister, but her watery eyes betrayed her tough exterior. Her snort soon became a shriek, however, as Luette abruptly pounced on the small girl and practically smothered her in a bear hug. "G-get off me, stupid!" She struggled in vain for a moment, but finally relaxed a little. She knew in her heart that she would intensely miss her sister and her pesky ways. She clenched at Luette's sleeve, the suppressed tears dangerously close to falling.
The eleven o'clock bell echoed off the walls of the entire train station. Rosette had to pry Lydia off the older girl when she refused to let go. "I guess this is goodbye, then," The woman's smile was bittersweet as she gave Luette a last squeeze. After a tearful farewell, Ophelius held Lydia's hand, and the three soon departed.
Luette's eyes lingered at the spot where their retreating figures had vanished, already feeling a wave of homesickness surge through her.
