The next person was just known as Hunter. That's all the file said. No amount of digging had turned anything else up. It was odd, but not unheard of. Like Prince or Cher...although Cecelia doubted this person was either.
Shuffling some papers on the table, she quickly browsed what she had found out about this individual. Some details were vague. Only glimpses or rumors were available to narrow down what Hunter's abilities were. Everything seemed to revolve around her daughter and that trauma. Maybe she'd open up about it when she got here.
Right then, there was a knock at the door. Well, that was polite.
"Come in."
"Hello."
"Welcome, Hunter..."
Cecelia trailed off, hoping the woman would supply a last name finally. Her hopes were dashed as she simply sat in the chair provided with a nod. Okay, so she wasn't biting. There had to be a way to get more out of her. With a sigh, she shuffles things to uncover her phone then presses record.
"Why don't we get started?"
"Sure."
HUNTER'S POV
It had been a very long day at our charity shop, which was open for the first time. We were so nervous and excited about today. Years of planning went into the event and we had hoped for a brilliant start. We were so happy with how many people actually showed up.
I closed the doors for the evening when I let the last people out, checking to be sure that all the doors were locked up. I started to clean everything up for tomorrow, as another big event that we had organized awaited. My best friend was in the back of the shop, to make sure that everything there was also in place.
I suddenly heard sounds behind me. I spun around so fast that I barely could hold my footing. My heartbeat went crazy. It felt like my heart would come out of my chest. The moment my eyes reached the person in front of me, I glided to the ground. It felt like everything went in slow motion.
It took me a second before my mind could register what happened before my eyes. I was more than shocked to see Ken was ruining all our hard work.
Why would my ex-husband do something like this without question?
I couldn't process it at all... when everything became blurry before my eyes. I didn't know that my anger was growing with every second that passed. The time was ticking by slowly. I still heard the ripping sounds of destruction, felt my heart getting torn apart. The powerful need to protect our hard work and the honor of Lily overwhelmed me.
I wanted to fight so badly, but I could not move an inch. My sight was getting back after I heard a high-pitched scream. When I looked around, I saw a glow around me. When I looked up, I saw Ken was fighting with children's toys, which put a smile on my face because he got smacked everywhere. I placed a ground stone mat in front of him when he went to move out of the way for some led fiber optic cables. Now the ground was unsteady and he couldn't control his footing. He was off balance and fell to the ground. I saw him falling backward, so I decided to place a small lava lamp under his ass. His pants started to rip. Next came an unbearable cry that I felt through my whole body. Before I could stop myself, I felt the tears rolling down over my face. My laughter rang throughout the building.
...Five Years Ago...
Our beautiful daughter died in a tragic accident—while underway for a therapy session. Lily was only five years old. Our world fell apart. Lily was a bright young girl with so much in store. She had autism, which did not hold her back one bit. Lily was so full of love and unbelievably intelligent. She enjoyed her moments on a care farm, especially cuddling with the rabbits. Her green thumbs she got from her grandmother—who was always in the garden.
