It's been close to a week so far and we were still stuck in the van in front of the deserted gas station. For the past couple of days I had been collecting little bits of information that the kidnappers would drop. Which then would be used for my master escape plan, that isn't fully completed yet. So far, what I know is that the two men always meet each other to discuss matters at around 2 pm. They would take around a half an hour, then leave to where ever they came from. In the beginning I thought 3:30 would be a great time to escape, that was until I found out we had a bodyguard watching the back door. This fact was pretty upsetting to begin with until I over heard the body guard leave for break. Then taking my time, I carefully watched the body guard, calculating every time he would leave and came back from his breaks. Which then lead me to a conclusion of him having 20 minute breaks in every 2 hour intervals. Which was a lot of time for us get out and escape with, but there were many things that I still needed to find a solution to. I still didn't know how to open the locked back door. With an even bigger question, which was where we would run to? I was in such deep thought that I didn't even realize that Joseph was asking me something.
“Amelia?”
“ Pardon?” I looked away from the window and directed my attention towards him.
“ I just asking if you thought of something yet?”
“ Oh, no sorry. All I know is that we have to get out of here at around 4 PM, which would be in around 20 minutes” glancing at my watch just to be sure.
“ Okay lets do it”
“ Well its not that simple. How are we going to open the door and where are we going to run off to?” I asked him hoping that he would come up with something.
“ Well” he began to think while tapping his chin. I still don't understand how he has been taking this situation so easily. While you have me, stressing out and praying that everything would work out perfectly. He scrunched up his face and stared at the door, which I found really cute.
“ Amelia!” My head shot up to notice an annoyed looking Joesph staring at me.
“ What?”
“ You really have to stop getting lost in your thoughts. It's starting to get a little annoying”
“Oh, I'm sorry” was all I could say while looking back at the ground. I just wanted to go home to my family and friends. Live life again and not have to worry about the chances of me seeing light the next day.
“ Hey, it's okay. We will get out of here sooner or later” he said while lifting my chin up and looking deep into my eyes. I really liked him, which brought I smile to my face.
“ Okay, so what did you want to tell me?”
“ I know how to open the door”
“ REALLY!”
“ Yeah, we just need to wait 10 more minutes, then we can go” an over whelming sensation of joy rushed though out me. Just the thought of freedom made my stomach flutter. I don't know how he was going to open that door, but all I wanted right now was to get out of this van and go home to my family. My thoughts were mixed up and my heart began to beat faster.
“ Hey, are you alright?” he asked while holding my hand in his, and bringing me closer.
“ Yeah, just a bit nervous is all. Just can't believe we're getting out of here” I said while squeezing his hand and locking our fingers together.
“ We will make it out together, remember that I will always love you”
“ I love you to” were the last words that were spoken before the van filled with utter silence. Sitting there waiting for those 10 minutes to pass by already. I could feel my sweat run down my forehead and my breathing begin to steady down. Then all of a sudden I heard a steady pair of footsteps walking away from the van. I got up from my seat to check if the body guard had gone far enough for us to be out of sit.
“ He's gone” was all it took for me to say for Joseph to spring into action. I had been longing for this day for to long, and for the fact that it's actually happening just brought a tear to my eye. Joesph walked up to the door and began to twist and turn the lock with a pin he had found lying around on the floor. Suddenly we heard a 'Pop' and the door just swung open. Without a second word we both jumped out of the van and sprinted for our lives after locking the door behind us so they wouldn't notice. The minute the sunlight hit my face I felt my body tense up to the amount warmth and sunshine that was beaming towards me, but as time went by I began to adjust to the light.
“ Do you know where we're going?” I asked out of curiosity
“ Far away from that van as possible”.
