There was no point.
No matter what you did, innocent civilians would suffer. No matter how much you fought, the Separatists had millions of battle droids, willing and able to fight without feeling, without empathy.
You had been depressed for most of your life, but since the war started you had gotten even worse. Before the war, it was easier, you could cope. you had strategies, meditation, ways to calm yourself when thought feelings and thoughts arose.
Thank god for Cody, he was your saving grace. When you to met, everything seemed to change. The world around you became brighter, the colors more vibrant, even food had a new type of nourishment.
For a moment everything was perfect.
And then that moment ended.
Umbara had broken you. You were among the troopers when they had realized what Krell had done, and seeing their faces, seeing the realization and horror in Cody's eyes was more than your could bear.
So you decided. It was time.
You figured the best way to do it was by cutting yourself. It would be painful, but that's what your deserved, after what you did at Umbara.
Sneaking out of bed, clad in your pajamas, you crept into the bathroom and grabbed a small swiss knife. Holding it up in front of the bathroom mirror, you dimly noticed that your hand was shaking.
Climbing into the bathtub, not bothering to close the curtain, you readied the knife and held it to your wrist.
Then you cut.
And cut.
And cut.
With tears streaming down your face, you rested your head on the edge of the bathtub and let yourself relax. This is it, you thought.
And then Cody broke through the bathroom door.
You hadn't even known that he was awake, you had been so caught up in your own emotions that it had never registered.
"(Y/N) WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" he screamed as he ran to you. Cradling you in his arms, you saw his eyes go wide as he realized how much blood you were losing.
After that, it was all a blur. Cody tied rags around your wrists to stop the bleeding. He wrapped you in a blanket, picked you up bridal style, and ran out to the Medbay. You could hear him sobbing as he ran, muttering under his breath, "Stay with me, just a bit longer. Please (Y/N), just stay with me."
As you approached the Medbay, you finally realized how much more pain you were causing Cody. And then it all went black.
~~~
Everything hurt. You wrists ached and burned. But nothing hurt more than the look on Cody's face when he saw that you were awake. There was so much relief, so much worry on his weary face.
for a while you just looked at each other. you both opened and closed your mouths several times, trying to thinks of what to say, what you could say to make it all better.
But eventually, once Cody realized there was nothing he could say that would fix it, and once you realized that there was no way to apologize, you laced your fingers with his.
You were so relieved he was there. So content to just be in his presence. there would be alot to talk about later, but right now, for the first time in a while, you were happy to be alive.
~~~
Ouch, that was intense. I've never really written that kind of stuff before.
As always feel free to put in a request!
May the force be with you, my lovelies!
