Warm sun rays poured into the room, once the blinds were opened. The young worker stood on his tiptoes and opened all the blinds, lighting up the aesthetically pleasing inside of the cafe. The magical orangish rays made it look even more welcoming, which only explained why 5 people already were waiting in front of the closed glass doors.
The high schooler straightened his outfit and checked his beret, before tying the black apron around his waist. He let out a deep breath when a soft ring echoed throughout the cafe. Followed by the ring, a faraway voice called out "Innie, open the doors"
"Okay Channie Hyung" he replied with a smile on his face.
It was almost an everyday routine for the two to open up the cafe together, the only other co-worker they had was a waiter, who had a part-time job at the cafe, but he did do extra hours on the weekends.
Jeongin skipped towards the door and opened it with a click, bowing down and beaming smiles at the customers. Most of them knew where to sit and Jeongin having learned their orders considering they were regulars.
The regulars confirmed what they wanted and made small talk with the sweet boy, who replied equally enthusiastically. He walked back to the counter and entered the orders and checking out their receipts as he informed the owner about the orders.
"Tch, how can you be so bright and happy even in the morning?" questioned the owner with a pout on his face.
"It's you who's a grumpy old man" Jeongin joked.
The older gasped and had a look of shock on his face with his mouth in the shape of a circle
"Old? How dare you!" He began poking at Jeongin's side and tickling him.
Jeongin let out soft and cute giggles with a wide smile on his face, showing off his braces. The sound was like a siren to the attacker's ears. Jeongin felt his heart beating faster at the feeling of the man touching him.
However, the younger squealed "S-Stop it Hyung! Or- Or I'll scream!"
Chan stopped and booped his nose with his index finger and shook his head playfully.
The two were quite close and had a special bond between them. They were goofy with each other and the regular customers didn't mind seeing the adorable interactions between the two.
Chan wiped the counter clean as Jeongin balanced two plates on his wrists and held two in his hands, skillfully delivering the plates to their destined places.
The bell rang as the door was opened by a young boy, who was the same age as Jeongin. Jeongin waved at the new arrival and smiled brightly at him, while Chan just waved. Hours had passed and it was 3 pm when the waiter arrived.
The cute bear-faced waiter entered, stealing the spotlight with his tomato red hair.
The youngest greeted "Good Afternoon Channie Hyung! Hey Innie"
"Heyyy Jongho!! It's been a while" chuckled Jeongin
"Yeah, summer break started so now I'll be regular here. Also, congratulations on your graduation Channie Hyung! I'm sorry I couldn't make it through"
Chan had graduated from high school and the other students cheered so loud for him (It's no surprise that Felix's screeching was still the loudest ), he still remembered the noise made just for him. However, he was still thinking about which college or university to enter.
"Eh, no problem you had finals" shrugged the older.
Jongho changed into his uniform and began serving, frequently helping in making the coffee as well. Time passed without them even noticing, considering they had begun to get busier and they joked around a lot.
"Goodbye, guys! See you later!"
"Where are you going in such a hurry?" teased Jeongin.
"Oh uhhh, uhm" panicked Jongho.
"Innie don't tease him. Goodbye Jongho, don't forget to take your payment from me tomorrow though"
"I won't" he rushed out of the cafe, leaving the two alone once again.
Jeongin once again laughed, making his way to the door, and turned the sign from "OPEN" to "CLOSE". He returned to Chan while untying his apron and setting it on the table.
His eyes then landed on a slice of cake, decorated with chocolate glaze. Chan slid the baking paper off the sides and dug the fork into the cake, holding it out in Jeongin's direction.
"Here, have a bite" offered Chan.
"Isn't this the mocha cake that got expired?" inquired the younger, remembering Chan's words from a few hours ago.
Chan had seen the way Jeongin side eyed the last slice of the heavenly mocha cake so he had lied and kept the slice at the back of the fridge for later.
He let out a deep laugh, his eyes turning into crescents and his dimples appearing "No, I just said that because it's your favorite flavor and you haven't had it in a while have you?"
"Well... If it's a one-time thing then okay!"
Jeongin opened his mouth as Chan brought the cake near to him, he leaned forward to take a bite and literally melted as the flavor roamed around on his tastebuds.
"Mmmmm~" moaned Jeongin, it was the best thing he had eaten in a while. The sweet taste of the mocha frosting and the soft fluffy cake made him nearly faint from the taste "It's so good~ Hyung your cakes are the BEST!"
Chan laughed and took a bite himself and nodded in agreement. He had almost mastered the art of baking at this point and he loved sharing his creations with his co-workers and customers. He could bake almost anything, cupcakes, cakes, cinnamon rolls, macarons, you name it.
The two ate and closed up the cafe together, often laughing and joking around. Even though the two met daily, they loved spending time with each other, and simply talking was enough. They parted ways with Seungmin picking up Jeongin and Chan driving back to his own house.
The two had joked and laughed, completely forgetting about the awkwardness that was present a month ago.
