A Lingering Feeling

The sound of the drapes fluttered in the wind that blew into the room. I could hear the sounds of the birds chirping in the distance and the sound of flowing water nearby. But none of that was as clear as the loud thumping coming from my heart. His cold lips began to feel warm as he continued to caress my soul with his touch when finally, I snapped back to reality at the sound of footsteps in the hall.

I gasped and tried pushing the Master off of me but he didn’t budge. I tried once again, only this time using force. I finally managed to free myself from his grasp and fell onto the floor. I wiped my lips with hands and glared back at him, now standing before me. He wiped his bloody lips and turned towards my gaze. His cold eyes met mine and then he smirked.

This man…is a monster.

“Let this be a lesson to you servant,” he said. “Walk into a lion’s den…expect to be bitten.” He smirked again, this time licking the blood from his lips. My heart couldn’t stop pounding. Quickly, I stood up from the floor and ran towards the door to escape. Before I could leave the room, I stopped and turned around to see him standing still in the sunlight. The drapes danced at his sides with the breeze, and the light shined on his back.

He was like a beautiful monster.

I turned around and escaped from the “Lion’s den” before he tried to bite me again. The long corridors seemed to never end as I tried to find my way out of the mansion. I could still feel his touch and cold lips. Just the thought of what happened made me tremble at my knees.

As I continued searching for a way out, I found myself standing in front of a door. I examined the condition of the door and noticed it was not like the others. The paint on it was chipped and it was the color of a dark crimson. I moved in closer and for some reason, I could hear the faint sounds of a crying. Was it a person? I gazed down at the door knob and noticed it was chained with a lock.

“How strange,” I mumbled to myself. Suddenly I heard the sound of chatter and footsteps coming closer and so I ran down the corridor before I could get caught.

After what seemed like an eternity trying to solve a labyrinth, I finally managed to find a door that led me back outside. The moment I stepped foot outside, I ran as fast I could away from the mansion. Suddenly a sharp pain reached the back of my head and I stopped in my tracks. My heart began to race even more as I slowly turned my head back towards the mansion.

Standing in front of a barred window stood a figure. I squinted my eyes to take a closer look and realized it was the figure of a woman. Her long golden hair covered her white gown and I could feel her sharp eyes staring at me. Slowly, she placed one of her hands on the window, and I felt as if she was trying to reach out to me. Scared, I slowly turned around and continued on my way telling myself to not look back. Of course, I looked back but the golden haired woman had already disappeared.

For the rest of the day I was trapped in a daze. Even though my stomach was empty, I couldn’t stop thinking about the Master. I slightly touched my lips and remembered his cold eyes, his hot breath tickling my ears, and how he licked the blood from his lips while smirking at me. My heart couldn’t stop pounding at all and I could feel myself becoming flustered.

Suddenly the sharp eyes of the golden haired woman flashed in my mind.

I could still feel her cold gaze at the back of my mind and sudden chills began to run down my body. Who was she? Why did she look at me like that? Could it have been…a ghost? No, that can’t be. She seemed too real.
