⊱ ─ Street Hockey ─ ⊰

After a few hours of sleep, Charlie woke Daisy up with soft whispers and a sweet forehead kiss before the team headed out to the field in their Team USA attire for some extra conditioning for missing practice. "And hold, one, two, three, four..." Dean counted as they were stretching. "If Coach isn't here, why do we have to be?" Connie asked. "We have a game tonight, we have to work out!" Dean answered back. Daisy stood up straight before reaching down to her toes prefectly, she could feel someone's eyes on her. She turned her head to see Charlie staring at her, he turned away with a light blush on his cheeks making her smile. "I say mutiny! Who's with me?" Goldberg asks as he panted lightly.

Daisy shook her head before she stretched her arms. "Goldberg, I'm too tired to mutiny," Dwayne replied as he raised his hand. "Come on, guys. It's not like we couldn't use the extra conditioning," Julie tells them. "Speak for yourself, babe," Dean retorted as he looked Julie up and down. "Her name's Julie, not babe!" Adam defended as he stepped closer to Dean. "Don't tell me how to talk, rich boy!" Dean yelled as he shoved Adam who then charged at the taller boy. And with that, the team began arguing with each other as they chose sides. Daisy shook her head as the team argued when someone caught her attention, she spotted the same boy who had been tormenting Jesse.

"Yo, Team USA!" He shouted gaining the whole team's attention, "What are you gonna do today? A million jumpin' jacks?" He laughed as Daisy lightly smirked. "This kid's crazier than me. Forget about him," Dean says before turning back to Fulton, "Look, Fulton!" Daisy rolled her eyes at Dean as Jesse stepped forward, "Hey man, I'm getting sick of you!" The kid simply shrugged, "And I'm gettin' sick of Team USA being represented by a bunch of whining babies." Daisy raised her brows in surprise by the kids words. "Well, too bad you can't back up that mouth!" Jesse spat back with his usual confident attitude, he was always the person you'd want to back you up in a fight hence why Daisy adored him.

The kid smiled, "Man, me and my boys can take you anytime, anywhere!" Daisy looked from the kid to Jesse. "I don't see no boys!" Jesse argued back. "I got 'em waiting. Grab your gear," The kid said ignoring the security officer who was approaching him. "We're playing some schoolyard puck. Or maybe you forgot what it's like playing for real pride!" He challenged and instantly, Daisy was down with the idea of some street hockey. They needed to go back to their roots and remember who they were before Team USA, she knew this would help the team improve. "Come on, it's not too far, you little wimps," He continued as the security guard pulled him away, "You coming or not?"

Daisy instantly stepped forward, "I'm down. We gotta remember where we came from, the streets." Daisy walked away from the team and got her gear, she smiled when she saw the girls rushing to get their gear together. They headed down to the place where the kid and his boys were waiting for them. "My little brother Russ here has been telling me, you've been choking big time," Russ' older brother said as he crossed his arms. "Well, your brother has a big mouth," Jesse fired back making Team USA look at each other with worried glances. "He does, doesn't he?" Russ' brother said as Russ smiled.

Daisy smirked as she watched Jesse, she was reminded of the times out on the pond in Minnesota or the courts during the summer. "Anyway, we thought we'd call you to see what you've got," Russ' brother says. "Yeah, we know you can talk to the press and sign autographs and stuff," Russ adds. "We can do more than that!" Luis responds. "Oh yeah? We can teach you how to play like the real Team USA," Russ' brother stated. Daisy smiled widely as she glanced at Connie and Guy, they were ready for this. "What do you know about it?" Dean asked. Russ' team all shared a knowing look with each other with wide grins and smirks.

The game of street hockey began and Russ' team was good, that much was clear to Team USA. Russ' brother slammed Dean into the fence, "You gotta earn every inch!" Guy got the puck but it was quickly stolen. "They're ain't no whistles either! Keep digging until you score that goal!" Daisy smirked as she slammed one of Russ' boys into the fence getting the puck before shooting the shot and getting it in. "Well damn! Perhaps you need to remember the skill set each player has, especially Flash here," Russ' brother said as he fist-bumped the girl with an impressed smile.

Russ' boys were getting the puck with barely any trouble, Daisy was having fun as she worked perfectly with this crew. Russ took the puck from Jesse and scored another goal which Jesse didn't really like. Daisy managed to steal the puck from one of the boys and score another shot, barely dodging Russ' defenseman. "And then, you take a few breaths, slug some water, and get out there and do it again!" Russ said before tossing a water bottle at Charlie who drank some water and got back onto the court to continue. "Don't just stand there! Come and get it!" Russ' brother yelled. "Don't mind if I do," Luis responds before stealing the puck.

But like usual, Luis couldn't stop and he went straight into the fence. One of Russ' teammates helped him up, "Hey, hey, hey. Use the brakes, baby." He then skated away as Luis leaned against the fence. Daisy skated over to him, "I'll help you work on it." Luis nodded with a grateful smile before the two got back in the game. Fulton hit the puck, it ricocheted off the goal and hit someone's car. "Man, no sweat. It happens all the time," Russ' brother said to Charlie and Daisy. "Excuse me! Could you throw it back please?" Charlie asked the guy whose car was hit by the puck, he nodded and threw back the puck.

Charlie got the puck and shot it in, Daisy cheered the loudest as she hugged him before kissing his cheek. Russ got the puck and did an insane shot that Team USA had never seen before but they were impressed. Daisy skated over to him, "What kind of shot was that?" Charlie stood next to Daisy as Russ smiled up at them. "Ah, ya like that, huh? That's my Knucklepuck. It's hard to be accurate, but it drives the goalies crazy," Russ tells them. Daisy fist-bumped Russ, "Mad respect right there, man." Russ smiled widely at Daisy's comment, the boy secretly being a fan of the blonde girl.

Ken got the puck and split the defense, he passed the puck to Dwayne who quickly passed off the puck to Daisy. She took her shot despite the risk of missing due to the angle of her shot and scored making everyone cheer. Russ' brother pretended to go after Ken making him back away. "Don't worry kid, I'm just messing with you. Listen, when a guy comes at you like I just did, do this," Russ' brother started. "Stick, gloves, and shirt," He threw down his stick and gloves before grabbing Ken's shirt and pulling it over his head. Ken nodded before doing it to Russ' brother who smiled and praised the boy, everyone cheered for Ken who was smiling.

Soon enough, the bus arrived to take Team USA back to the stadium for their game. Russ' brother stopped Daisy, "Listen Jacobs, you've got incredible potential out on the ice. It's good to focus on the fun side of it, it's good to let others have their opportunity but don't be afraid to show your place. Make your statement. Do it for girls who dream to be in that position, aye?" Daisy smiled and nodded before the two shook hands. As Daisy climbed into the bus and sat down next to Charlie, she really thought deeply about those words - Perhaps he had a point that may fix her internal battle.
