'Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers that lie within'
It was now your 2nd year at Kurasuno high school, you were assistant manager along with a girl named Kiyoko. She was very pretty and had black hair, clear skin, and a mole on the right side of her top lip. You often felt envious of her but never revealed this to anyone, its not like you could anyways.
Nishinoya had met another guy, his name is Tanaka Ryu. The pair are probably the most chaotic people she's ever met, but it was nice to see him and Noya have their idiotic and brother like moments together.
The only downside to this was Noya and Tanaka's feelings to towards Kiyoko. Every day you would hear them talking about how pretty she is or how much they loved her. In fact the whole team probably felt the same way. This made you feel like a shadow or a mere side character to a movie that's supposed to be your own.
You felt left out and it slowly ate at your heart and self esteem everyday. It made you question if you could even feel this way without being considered a narcissist and your mind was constantly racing, thinking about what feelings she's allowed to express or even feel. Now any normal person would quit their position if it made them feel like this but you couldn't. You knew that if you left your position of assistant manager Nishinoya would only drift farther away from you.
RINNNGGGG
Students rushed out of their classes and out the gates as the dismissal bell rang. You packed away your books and went to get your shoes out of the locker. Today is the day the new first years come in, you were not there for the volleyball tryouts so you don't know who made the team and who didn't but you were excited nonetheless.
As you opened the gym doors you saw that no one was there so you decided to set up and start playing with the volleyballs. After about 6 minutes of practicing by yourself a silver haired second year walked in. "Oh, good evening (l/n)-chan!" You smiled a waved at him "Hey Sugawara-san!".
You set the ball down and looked at your phone, it was now 3:50 which means that the team should be arriving in about 10 minutes, you took this time to eat a snack and use the bathroom. As you walked back to the gym you heard the loud voices of Nishinoya and Tanaka. " Kiyoko you're so beautiful!" "We shall protect you with our lives!"
You stopped in your tracks and gripped the chest part of your shirt. A heavy and depressing feeling washed over you as you stared at your feet listening from the back windows of the gym. Your eyes widened as you felt a tingling sensation inside of your stomach, you broke out into a coughing fit and dropped on the ground holding your stomach and covering your mouth.
You exhaled as the painful and foreign sensation left, leaving you out of breath and scared, you got up and drank water before entering the gym once more.
As you walked in Daichi greeted you. " Ah! (L/N)-chan you're here!" You waved and shyly closed the door. "Who's the girl?" Asked an energetic sounding voice. "Ok newbies! This is our assistant manager (L/N) (F/N)! She is a second year and is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, please make her feel welcome!"
4 boys lined up and bowed, A short boy, somehow, taller than Noya with orange hair spoke. " Hinata Shoyo!", then a tall black haired boy "Kageyama tobio.", next a cute green haired boy, " Ya-yamaguchi Tadashi", lastly a tall and intimidating blonde, "Tsukishima Kei ".
You nodded and smiled at the boys, they looked at you, " It's A pleasure to meet you (L/N)-Senpai!" You blushed, still not used to people being so formal towards you. "I-it's nice to meet you all as well! ".
Time skip
The team was now about 30 minutes into practice and Coach Ukai was spiking balls at them from above the net, you and Kiyoko would occasionally roll back the stray balls back onto the court.
