Chapter 1

Stephanie Lavander's POV

As we all bowed to our audience of our final show, we grinned happily. My costar, Matt, was standing right next to me grinning like an idiot as the rest of the our cast mates walk off of the stage to gather in the largest dressing room to celebrate. I went the opposite direction to quickly change out of my costume and into a pair of soft, comfortable gray jogger pants and a white long sleeved shirt with a pair of running shoes. I was tying my long dark brown almost black hair that reached the middle of my back, when Matt came from behind me gently grabbing me by my elbow putting me to the dressing room looking like a kid in Christmas.

"Let's go! Let's go!" He ushered other actors who were waiting on other friends to finish changing to hurry up.

"Relax, Matt." I chastised "We were given a few minutes to change."

"No time, mate." He smiled at me before we started walking at a faster pace "We have to go to the pub after this celebration" He winked as we arrived to the largest dressing room where other actors were already talking to VIPs with a drink on hand and smiles on their faces as they talked about the show. Matt led me to the table where he poured out a drink for the both of us. Matt was about 5'11", short cropped blonde hair, fair skin tone with yellow undertones. He had smile lines etched on his face and the crinkles on the corner of his eyes make their appearance whenever he smiles or laugh. God, his laugh. It was a loud and very distinct laugh, you'd be two rooms away and you would still be able to hear it. Bothersome to others' ears, but music to mine, melodic even. While I play the role of Eponine, Matt plays Enjolras, who in the movie version of Les Miserables was played by Aaron Tveit. Matt is eight years my senior at the age of 30, but he didn't look a day over 25. As he poured the champagne, I stared at his features, out of all our costars he and I were the ones that were stuck to the hip.  We were the last ones to be added to the cast and we live in the same street, every day he would walk me home from the theater and vice versa. And just like my character, I was secretly in love with him.

Matt hands me the flute and drinks from his own, "Ahh, fancy shit." He sighs after swirling the liquid around his mouth and swallowing it, and I watched like an idiot, as his Adam's apple gently bobbed. "You downed that like you've never had champagne like this before." I teased, Matt playfully frowned "Just because I'm labelled as the 'rich kid' amongst the cast, doesn't mean I've had the fanciest wines and champagnes."

"But you could deny it." I muttered to my champagne." He lazily tilted his head back and squinted his eyes as if planning something bad "I-" he started before changing his mind about what he originally wanted to say "You're lucky that I'm nice to you or you'd be six feet under."

"You wouldn't hurt a fly!" I exclaimed, laughing. "You'd be surprised." He winks again before turning to the sound of the manager of the theater who was calling out everyone's attention, gently tapping the side of his glass with a butter knife.

Later that evening when the celebratory champagne was poured, the rest of the cast decided that it was too light and that they needed a stronger drink to celebrate which lead us to the usual pub we would be at. It was called a pub, but in reality it was a nightclub. Everyone was dancing up against each other, bodies sweating, personal space ignored, drinks flowing and other things that had to be done between the walls and the stalls of the bathroom, others at a booked private room. However, some of us sat in a booth, conversing and drinking strong liquor the others were on the dance floor. I stood on the balcony of the second floor of the bar, leaning on the steel bars overlooking the dance floor where Matt and the other actors were singing and dancing. Two hours of watching this made me drunk and I finally decided to go home to get some rest.
