Ch.5 - To Dare Is To Do

With each breath that I took, he moved closer and closer to me. In the matter of seconds, the space between us quickly vanished. My heart was beating so rapid, that I could feel each beat in both my ears. His presence was wanted and suddenly I was feeling extremely warm.

He stared at me with his charming, slender, hazel eyes as his lips slowly curled into a dashing smile. The smirk on his face made my heart skip a beat or two...maybe three. His gaze traveled down my face and for some reason, lingered on my lips.

My self-control began slipping through my fingers. Without thinking, I started to bite a small portion of my lip to see how he'd react. He paid close attention, and along with my lip bite, came a smug smirk on his face. He was enjoying my physical and mental shut down, but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction any longer than I already have.

"What do you want Devin? First you scare me and now you want to stare at me like a creep without saying a word." I say to him, crossing both arms. "Woah. Chill. I was just coming over here to inform you of the party that I'm throwing this weekend." he said. "Great, now you." I mumbled turning my back to him. "I want you to come Genesis." he spoke, in the softest tone. "Well, I don't want to be there." I rejected.

"Ouch!" *Cough cough* he cried out. I spun around quickly, wondering what could've possibly gone wrong that quick. Devin was crouched down in an upright fetal position.  "What-...are you... are you okay ?!" I asked, trying my hardest to calm him. I was silently panicking, not knowing what to do as people began surrounding us, adding to my nervousness.

"No! No not at all. UGHHH! I think you just broke my heart Gen." he childishly cried. "YOU ARE SO... UGH! " I yelled, pushing him completely on the ground.  The crowd of people swarming around us began to disperse. Devin broke out in laughter, grabbing my hand before I could walk away. As he stood up, he said to me. "Wait! Hold up a sec."

I faced him, looking down at the hand that held mine. "Okay all jokes aside. I really want you to be there. It'll be fun." he continued. "For what? " I ask.

For a moment, Devin became insanely silent. All he did was stare at me. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was struggling to give me an answer. "That's exactly what I thought." I said to him. "Because....I want to get to know you...and I can use your company for a change." he blurted in the calmest manner.

Yup. Just like that. In that split second, he made me blush and his response intrigued me.

I stared back at him with furrowed eyebrows and remained silent for a bit. I looked him up and down a few times and turned back around. "I'll think about it." I mumbled.  With my bag now on my shoulder, I say to him, "Now will you get out of my way? "

He does exactly as I ask with the most charming smile on his face that never faded. "Thank you." I say just before going my own way.

He didn't even budge. Instead, he stood there mumbling to himself, "With that being said, she is going to be a handful. She's definitely trouble, but I don't mind a little bit of trouble."

CLASS OF B.O.A

"Once again, what was that all about? First zay, now you're being approached by the schools hottest Guy!? I don't know Gen, something's up." lay mentions to me.

"I don't know what you mean Alena." I reply, trying to brush off the topic of conversation. "Oh, come on Genesis! Don't play dumb. Between you and Zay and then you and the full course meal at the..." she stated before I quickly interrupted her.

"Oh, about that." I mention, easing into another topic. "Devin, that's his name, he's throwing a party and he basically said that he needs me to be there." I explain. "Really? He said that ??" she doubtfully asked. "Would I ever lie to you, my friend? " I asked her. "No, but he asked you in front of his friends. Don't you think that's a bit weird Gen?" she proposed.
