I buttoned my dress pants before moving back to the mirror on the back of my door. I fiddled with my hair a bit before deciding to grab some gel to slick it back into a low bun. It seemed to be the best choice.

The knock on the door had me stepping back before opening it to see Tessa smiling on the other side. "I can't believe you'll be working at GP, I'm so happy for you." She walked into the room and took a seat on my bed inspecting the open box.

Before I could move to pick it up, she snatched the card attached with a grin on her face, "My token of good luck. Happy First Day, C. Aww!" I quickly moved to her and grabbed the note while she was busy laughing.

After stuffing it in my side table drawer - of course, I wasn't throwing it away - I turned to her with a hand on my hip, "not funny."

In the box was the shirt I was currently wearing. It was a beautiful black shirt with intricate yellow designs decorating it. It matched well with my black dress pants and the heels Tessa had loaned me until I got myself a pair.

"I'm sorry." She sat up trying to hide her smile and gave me a once over, "you look great and you're gonna do great. I know it." I walked back to the door inspecting myself. My hips were wide, something I had forgotten to take into account when I bought the pants. I ran my hand down my thighs seeing how the fabric stretched across the skin.

I gulped thinking what Samael would think though I was trying not to. There was no way I'd be able to go out in something like this. I'd have to change and somewhere in the back of my mind was the thought to do just that.

"You'd better get going or you'll be late." That had my head snapping in Tessa's direction. The small smile on her face let me know that that was her way of distracting me and I was thankful she did.

I would've dug myself into a deep dark hole.

Instead, I rushed to grab my purse and other belongings before I was hugging Tessa and rushing out to get a cab. After I told her the news of the potential job, I immediately asked if it was something she was interested in. After she declined, I still felt bad even when she assured me she was okay.

The ride was quiet and I took slow calming breaths until we stopped in front of the building. After paying the driver and he left, my head raised to look up at the skyscraper of a building. Made of mainly glass, the buildings surrounding it reflected off the spotless surface.

I took a final steadying breath before making my way inside. It was still a bit surreal. Who would've thought I'd be entering the buildings I only read about.

My eyes flew around the polished interior. Different shades of grey and whites made up the room and immediately I started making my way to the receptionist desk. The pale redhead glanced up at me for a brief moment before finishing the message she'd been typing.

"How can I help you?" I recited what Callan had said to me. You'll ask for Travis Sullen.

"I'm here to see Mr. Travis Sullen." The small tremble in my voice had me clamping my mouth shut and clutching the strap of my bag tighter.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No, but-"

"Well you're not here to see Sullen. Appointments only doll." She didn't even let me finish. After seeing I had nothing to say, her head fell back in her phone and I turned and walked away. I hadn't anticipated this happening and was unsure of what to do next.

I had no way to contact Callan and if I was unsuccessful in getting to Mr. Sullen, it was obvious I wasn't seeing Mr. Godfrey anytime soon. I rubbed the back of my neck, looking back one last time before deciding to leave. I'd already embarrassed myself enough.
