Becca was getting ready to go to work.
It was 7:30 am, she was quite the early riser and enjoyed taking her time in the morning, though, like today, she often still found herself rushing to get herself out the door.
The blaring sound of her phone ringing from the other room buzzed in her ears, running quickly to pick it up before it had the change go to voice mail.
"Nat, Hi! What's up?"
They had travelled out to Greece 4 years ago when Nat's father died from a brain tumour. Nat was super close with her dad. After his death, she was constantly reminded of him. Every day she would drive past the park they used to eat lunch at together to get to work, the paintings hanging on her walls that they bought together, not to mention the fact that the graveyard they buried him in was right around the corner from her house. Nat wasn't very good at coping, she had always pushed her feelings under the rug and put on a brave face since she was young. Becca knew she would need to mourn her father's death eventually, but for the time being, she had to get her friend away from all the memories. They ended up extending the trip further and further until they decided to stay permanently. Natasha's family were very wealthy, and her inheritance from her father's death allowed them to start a life in Mykonos.
The pair were two very different people, Rebecca being quiet and introverted whilst Nat was outgoing and opinionated, she spent her nights partying and living life to the fullest. She had been seeing her girlfriend, Maria, for a year and a half now, Becca is waiting for the day Nat break the news that they're moving in together, she already spends most nights there anyway, so it wouldn't be hard for either of them to adjust.
"Bex! Do you want to catch up after work? Maria and I wanted to go to Sezar for dinner and maybe you can bring along someone too..!"
Becca could feel Natasha's nervy expression through the screen. She had never been the dating type, never liking the idea of going on a random date with some random guy here and there. Nat was desperate for Becca to find someone. She was the happiest she had been with Maria and wanted her to experience the same joy that her relationship brought to her, but she had pretty much accepted that Rebecca wasn't the dating type.
"C'mon babe! You gotta put yourself out there! You have a rocking bod and the face of a supermodel, you could get any guy you wanted!"
It was true. When Becca was younger, no boys had seemed to take any interest in her. She was a timid, shy little thing with no confidence at all. Though she grew into some confidence, and her curves, she was still convinced that she wasn't to many men's taste.
"I don't have a date, but I'll certainly come along." She could tell Nat was mildly disappointed by her answer, but Nat didn't want to push it. "Alright babes, see you then."
Draping a cashmere cardigan over her grey dress, she stepped out of the little apartment.
"Okay, I'm heading out for the day!" Rebecca said to Monica with a smile. Brushing the pollen off her skirt from the flowers surrounding her, she hurried out in hopes of catching the first tram home.
Rebecca worked at Sallys, a small florist at the end of Matoyanni street. It was a beautiful shop and very popular with the locals. Because her kind nature had always made her very easy to get along with, her sweet smile and soft vanilla perfume attracted many loving customers that she enjoyed chatting with. Monica, her coworker, was a tall dark skin girl, with the prettiest hair Rebecca had ever seen on a woman It was voluminous and often was styled into tight braids. Monica and herself became friends very fast, and first connected over the mutual hatred towards their boss, Tyler Haward. He had taken over the shop when his wife left him, and he was only in it for the money. He was constantly overworking the two of them and paying them no extra for all the added work they were doing for him.
