"We shouldn't do this alone, Reg."
The boy's gray eyes focused on brunette girl beside him. He could saw hesitation and slight fear written on her face. Though her voice didn't show any. He truly admired how loyal she have been with him, even after things he have done to her.
His stomach churned out with guilt. He never wanted her to join him. This journey is totally unplanned. He even have no clue where they were standing now or what will they faced inside the humongous cave. And for a Slytherin—and in addition, a Ravenclaw— it was a complete dumb thing to do.
"Well," he started. "There's two of us, so we aren't exactly alone. Besides, we already here, right? Then let's just get it done," he continued with humorous tone yet his face betrayed him and showed his qualm.
His female companion turned to him with fake aghast face. "Wow, Black," she said with little chuckles. "Living up to your name is see. Such a lion-hearted," she smirked.
The boy gave her sarcastic smile, though his eyes sparkle with amusement. He wondered what would his parents reaction if they realised that Alpha Leonis—or might say Regulus, his name— was also called Heart of The Lion, the very symbol of their most hated house in Hogwarts. That sure would be extremely ludicrous, though he would never share this knowledge with them.
After a few moments of ease, suddenly realisation came back and slapped them in the face. They would end the Dark Lord tonight—well, more like half-way to end him. Yet here they were, facing one of the greatest wizard creation without any back-ups. They could've easily die. Merlin, they didn't even have any plan.
The gray-eyed lad sighed and turned to his other companion—the house elf. "Kreacher," he started. His loyal servant responded immediately, "Yes, Master Regulus?" He lifted his corner lips a little. "I think your job here is done," he answered softly. "We'll take it from here. I'll call you if we need your assistance."
The elf turned sharply to his master with eye wide open. He shook his head vigorously. What was his master thinking?! He already experienced the journey into the cave with the Dark Lord and it was not something he wanted to his master went through.
"Master will not retrieve that cursed trove. Kreacher will never let Master go," he interfered. The boy sighed again. He already predicted his loyal servant would respond that way.
He steeled his face and crouched in front of the elf. "Kreacher, I order you to go back home and stay there until I call you back," he stated sternly. "Do you understand?"
His loyal servant bowed immediately while apologise under his breath repeatedly. Then he gazed back to his master with glazed. "Farewell Master Regulus," he said quietly, bowed again for the last time before he snapped his finger and apparated with a loud crack.
"Alright," the brunette girl dragged, snapping the boy from his thoughts. "We should start now, shouldn't we?" She put her hand on his forearm and gave it a reassuring squeeze and threw him a little smile.
He felt his tense posture relax a little from the support. "Yeah, of course," he replied. He turned his face a little to her. "Or you already scared to continue this journey?" he continued with smirk slowly grew in his lips.
"Well I don't blame you. I still remember that day of our very first journey to the Forbidden Forest when you screamed and squeezed me to death just because a unicorn passed by and—" he rambled playfully but cut abruptly by his female companion.
