Perhaps I would have let it all go.
It had been six months since Jordan's death, and this was the start of Year Eleven. That's what everyone kept reminding me. It was GCSE year, and despite Jordan's death being incredibly traumatic, I still had to get the grades everyone was expecting of me.
But they didn't understand. She wasn't just my best friend. We were practically kindred spirits. I knew everything about the girl. She was always there. I loved her more than anything.
And then she was gone.
April 10th, 2014, at three thirty five am. They said it was a tragic accident, getting hit by that car. I argued every day- they'd found her with alcohol in her system, and looked as if she'd been beaten to pulp.
Jordan didn't drink, and the car had hit her in the side and knocked her onto the ground. She'd had a heart attack from shock. It had hardly caused her any visible marks, yet when she was found she'd been covered in blood and bruises.
But eventually the police won the argument. It was typical 'teenage rebellion', they said, girl snuck out, drank for the first time, got into a fight, and walked into the road and missed the car. A horrible accident, but that was it.
And begrudgingly, I accepted that, and tried to get on with life.
And maybe I would have continued to do so, if it hadn't been for the note.
