Sara's voice hummed in the background as I filled all the spooky bowls with different candies and she sat on Sebastian's lap helping scoop the inside of a pumpkin out.
"No daddy use your hands" Sara complained snatching the spoon from Seb's hand and dropping it onto the table right before digging her hands into the orange stringy mess.
Seb quickly gave me a panicked look over his shoulder, already getting annoyed by the idea of the inevitable mess. I couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"Don't laugh kam I hate this pumpkin crap" Sebastian mumbled, he'd only agreed to carving a pumpkin with Sara because it was on her birthday list from the month before and he thought she'd forget by now. Turns out kids memory gets a whole lot better as they get older.
"Don't say that momma doesn't like it" Sara was quick to tell off Sebastian for his questionable language choices sending me a quick thumbs up, Just so I knew that she had it handled.
Throwing the candy wrappers into the trash I finally finished all the bowls ready for a our movie night and any of the trick or treaters that happened to come by. Just as I had disposed of the wrappers Stella walked into the house carrying her shopping bag with her friends from set following closely behind.
Each of them greeted me and Sebastian already knowing us from being around the house a lot, or when either of us would visit Stella on set. The two of us wanted to be there to encourage and help Stella as she tried to navigate her way through the acting world just like seb had once done.
Sadie, Gaten, Noah and Caleb all dropped their bags clearly full of pieces of clothing ready to put together their Halloween costumes. The group of teenagers small talked their way over to where I was standing sneakily trying to steal some candy.
"Hey mom hey dad" Stella chirped as she walked over to sebastian, who was still working on the pumpkin with a permanent look of disgust on his face.
giving him a lose side hug while ruffling her younger sisters hair only to be smacked away, just before Stella could annoy Sara further i quickly cut in waltzing over and taking Sara from Sebastian's lap "okay Sara-Saurus Rex that's enough hitting"
Sebastian looked up at stella and frowned at her "don't annoy your sister like that" stella stepped back raising her arms in mock surrender as she rejoined her friends.
Standing beside Sebastian with Sara on my hip I looked towards stella and her friends "all right you lot get our hands outta my candy bowls" the group of teenagers all giggled walking out of the kitchen to grab their bags of costumes and head upstairs to get changed.
