Chapter Four

Confrontation

Dimitri:

Dimitri stood before the dark wooden desk, glaring at the animal in human form, a form he didn't deserve. The animals eyes stayed trained on him, he didn't even blink. Dimitri could tell he was fighting the urge to rip his throat out.

"What are you doing here?" Daryl snarled viciously.

Dimitri gritted his teeth and said in the same tone, "You know what. I'm not going to let you force that kid to be your mate just so you can lead the pack. It's sick!"

Daryl slammed his fist on the desk, "You don't know what you're talking about" he spat "You wouldn't understand, a child like you could never understand our love"

"Love," Dimitri scoffed "Are you fucking insane? You've been stalking that girl, for nine fucking years and this is the first time she's seen what you really look like. She doesn't even know you"

Daryl's eyes blazed. Like fire was hidden behind those burning black holes. Searing into Dimitri with such fierceness he physically ached. Daryl stood up slowly and rounded the desk; Dimitri took an involuntary step back. Wrong move, really wrong move. Daryl's lips pulled into that same malicious, maniac smile he'd seen so many times.

"Poor baby brother, did I frighten you?" he asked venomously.

In all the time it takes to blink Daryl ha his hands around Dimitri's throat, choking him but not with enough strength to kill him.

"Listen you mutt, I'll only say this once. Don't get in my way," Daryl's voice was low but just as threatening as a scream.

I gasped for air, trying to speak. "You can't kill me, you'll never be the alpha then. You'll be exiled" I managed to say.

Daryl's villainous grin widened, "If you get in my way I'll risk it"

Then he released his grasp and let Dimitri fall to the floor, struggling to fill his lungs. Daryl walked out of the room, closing the door behind him, and then began chatting and walking away with another teacher as if he hadn't just been suffocating his own brother. Dimitri dragged himself to his feet when he felt his strength return. He spat on the floor and noticed it was a watery pink colour. His throat was probably bleeding on the inside.

He kicked a desk leg, bending it far back in the process of trying to vent his anger. Why is Daryl stronger than me? He thought. It wasn't fair. He had to keep him from being alpha, keep him from killing people and protect that kid. But getting close to her was the only way to do all of those things, and to be honest, he doubted she would let him past her defences. God, life's a bitch.

Daryl:

The day seemed to drag on longer than usual. Being with her for that short while was just perfect, until that mutt had ruined it. Daryl remembered holding her. It wasn't the first time. Daryl used to slip into her room and rock her back to sleep when she had nightmares. At first she would cry more when he came, he suspected it was his smell, so he started wearing cologne. His angel didn't seem to notice when he held her back then, she was a very heavy sleeper. Daryl chuckled at the memory.

But this time was different. He wanted to close that space between them. To feel the warmth of her skin pressed to his and become one. He wanted to make her his. But why did Dimitri have to interfere? Why couldn't her be happy for him? He had finally found the one, his other half, the mate he was destined to be with.

Daryl walked slowly down the hallway, planning to hastily make his way to his angel's home but stopped. He heard her voice down the hall and to the left. But she wasn't alone. There were two male voices. Her friend, the gay one who made her laugh. That was the only reason he was still alive. And that blonde teacher, Mr. Jacoby or Mr. Jay or something. With his keen canine hearing he listened.

"I hope you learned your lesson" the teacher said.

"Sure we did. We'll see you in detention same time tomorrow then" said his angel mockingly. Daryl smiled at how cute it was.

"Yeah yeah" he sighed.

"See you Nick" she said and her footsteps echoed down the halls. Daryl waited for the teacher to leave so he could continue but someone said something that froze him in place.

"I can't believe you were drooling over three guys today. Mr. Jacob is twenty-nine. Stop with the flirting" said her friend.

"I wasn't flirting. And besides, I can't help thinking Mr. Jacob is hot" said his angel.

No. No, no, no. That couldn't be true. She couldn't think that. No......it was the teacher's fault. He was confusing her, turning her against him. Daryl gritted his teeth and walked to the room the teacher was in. He was at a desk, sorting through papers. Daryl knocked on the door. The teacher turned and Daryl plastered on a polite smile.

"Can I help you?" The teacher asked.

"I'm really sorry to trouble you but I'm having car trouble. Would it be too much to ask you to give me a hand?" Daryl asked.

"Not at all" the teacher said and smiled. Daryl thanked him and the teacher followed him out to the parking lot. The teacher looked around and realised it was deserted.

"Um, where's the car?" he asked nervously.

Daryl smiled "I'm sorry I had to lie about that. It's just, you're an inconvenience. It'd be easier for me and my angel if you just disappear"

The teacher backed away; about to make a run for it but Daryl was too fast. In no time at all he had caught his neck and snapped it with ease. The teacher's lifeless body fell to the ground. Daryl smiled to himself; he didn't even have time to scream. Daryl walked away from the school building leaving both the body and his worries behind. Now he would go to his angel's house and watch her, watch her beauty, her radiance the way he had so many times before.
