You had expected that when you came home, the moment you stepped foot on the estate, the men in suits would shoot you like a deer and leave your body on the graveled path to rot. So, when they didn't and they simply let you walk inside—you were sure that the storm known as Min Yoongi was brewing inside and you were terrified. A lot of things raced through your mind as you were walking along the path to the white mansion before you. Did Yoongi know that you spent a night with Jungkook? What will he do now that you are back at home? Is Seokjin okay? He had been the one who accompanied you to the library when you asked Yoongi if you could go to access a journal that you badly needed for your research—when in reality, it was just a ploy to get you out of the estate so you could meet Jungkook. You felt bad for Seokjin and you hoped he was okay. He was a good man, whatever 'good' meant in the life you were living in. You'd hate it if he was put in a bad position because of you.
The very moment you opened the door, you saw Yoongi standing on top of the stairs. One hand slipped inside his pocket and the other was holding onto the railing. His demeanor was calm, the complete opposite of what you expected him to be. You shut the door behind you and made your way towards him. Every step was filled with guilt. You wanted to tell him the truth right then and there but you were so terrified of what would happen, not only to you but to Jieun as well. She had said that you didn't know how it was in here the last few years and she was right. You had no idea. She lived here while you didn't. She knew what happened here and you didn't. Perhaps, Yoongi did change not only as your brother but as a husband too.
You stood before him, one step separating the two of you. "Yoongi—,"
"Follow me in my office." He said, his tone monotonous. He turned his back on you and made his way to his office.
You tightened the scarf you had bought on the way around your neck and then you followed him. The estate was divided into two wings—East and West. The West was where all personal rooms were located as well as the library while the East wing was strictly for business. This was where Yoongi's office was located. The ambiance in this side of the mansion was different. It was cold and bland. The trip was short and Yoongi opened the door to his office, gesturing you to come inside. Taking a deep breath, you entered his office and walked closer to his desk. In the corner of the room, you saw Seokjin sitting quietly. His face was stoic—almost making him look like a statue from how still he was sitting. You heard the door shut behind you and Yoongi's footsteps drawing nearer towards you.
The silence was heavy and suffocating. You wished he'd say something already. Your heart beat was increasing and your palms were starting to get sweaty. You watched as your brother sat down on the big black leather chair behind his mahogany desk. "Leave us for a moment, Jin." He told his consigliere who stood up wordlessly and exited the dim office.
Once the door was shut, you took a deep breath and opened your mouth. "Yoongi, I'm so—,"
"Someone's betraying the family." He told you, pouring himself a glass of alcohol which was an action that reminded you of Jungkook.
You stared at him, confused. "What?"
Your brother leaned his back against the chair. "A week ago, Seokjin and I were visiting one of our casinos in Busan to check on one of our business deals there. It was a spur of the moment meeting that only few people knew and then when we got to the meeting place—Big Man Ryu was dead along with his men. One bullet each to their heads."
"Jesus, Yoongi..." You breathed out.
"Are you aware of who Big Man Ryu is?" He asked, swirling the liquid inside the glass.
You furrowed your eyebrows, trying to remember who he was. "He's a media tycoon, right?"
Yoongi nodded. "And one of Father's closest allies. We were negotiating a deal with him—to buy out his shares in KBS for future purposes. A security, you can say. We were close; he was an old man who had way too much money to spend and didn't mind losing some of it to us. Now he's dead."
