Movie Night

"Hey, 'Mis?" Dick asked. I stood before the zeta tube, getting ready to leave for my apartment.

"Yeah?" I said, not looking back. I was feeling embarrassed after sobbing my heart out to him.

"M'gann wants us all to stay the night at The Cave and have a movie night. It's Friday, so the younger ones won't have school. I was wondering if you'd stay, please? Just watch one or two movies with us, that's all. We barely see you anymore, Artemis. We miss you. I miss you."

I blushed at what Dick said. Swallowing, I thought for a few minutes. Finally, I sighed. "I don't have anything to change into." I said lamely.

"You can use something of mine!" M'gann jumped in. I cursed internally.

"Please, Artemis?!" Cassie exclaimed, smiling wildly. "I - I guess." I muttered. Everyone cheered. Dick smiled at me. "Thank you." He mouthed. I rolled my eyes and followed M'gann down to her room.

After changing into the pajama shorts and the tank top she lent me, we went back down into the Rec Room.

"Nightwing's excited about you staying." M'gann said with a small smile. I glanced at her, confused. "What?"

"Nightwing - he's happy you're staying for the movies. He was basically having a heart attack, his heart was going so fast." The green skinned girl giggled. I knit my eyebrows together, smiling a bit. "O-Oh."

We arrived in the Rec Room.

"Finally! You guys are here so we can start the movie. Come on!" Wally said, throwing a piece of popcorn into his mouth. Dick turned around, sunglasses on, and smiled at me.

"Sit by me, 'Mis!" He said. M'gann gave me a knowing look and nudged me forward. I blushed and plopped down next to him. Dick wore a pair of black sweatpants and a white wife beater, but kept the sunglasses on, hiding his eyes.

"I sense some romance in the air?" Zatanna asked jokingly, though I could tell she felt jealous. I couldn't help but smile at that.

"Enough with all the lovey dovey-ness. Let's get on with the movie!" Bart exclaimed. Jaime pressed play and it started.

"What movie?" I whispered to Dick. "The Hills Have Eyes." He responded and my eyes got wide.

"Do you want to give these kids nightmares?!" I whisper/yelled. Dick just chuckled and put his arm around my shoulder. I blushed but didn't say anything.

Halfway into the movie I found myself half asleep until Wally screamed. I jolted awake. "Jesus, Wally." Dick said, glaring. The red head sheepishly smiled. "Sorry," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. I rolled my eyes and looked around. 

Cassie was snuggled against Tim, Bart and Jaime were clutching each other tightly, eyes wide with fear, Garfeild was in between La'gaan and M'gann. Wally was holding onto the popcorn bucket for dear life, pshh. And he thinks he's so tough. Ha. Zatanna was sitting on the floor, arms wrapped around her knees which were pulled up againt her chest. Connor was passed out on the floor, surprisingly. 

Dick? He had his arm wrapped around my shoulder, his face holding a slightly smug smirk. 

By the time the movie ended, I was on the verge of dozing off again. In my half sleep, I felt myself start to fall and woke up with a start. Dick squeezed my shoulder. "You okay, 'Mis?" 

"Spaz much?" Wally remarked and I glared at him, secretly flipping him off. "ooooh." Garfeild murmured, catching my middle finger just as it went down. He didn't say anything else about it. 

"Well." Started Dick. "That movie was truly something else. Who's ready for bed?" He asked and the younger ones eye's all got wide - including Wally's. 

"U-Um, I think I'll just stay awake a little longer." Cassie stammered and Bart nodded, eyes wide. "Yeah - until these hallucinations subside." 

"I told you this movie was a bad idea for the kids." Zatanna said. 

"No more scary movies." M'gann told us and everyone started objecting. "Oh, come on, M'gann! It wasn't that bad!" Wally exclaimed and I raised my eyebrows. 

"Um, do you see Gar? He's terrified." I said. The boy started to shake his head but stopped and gave up, sighing and nodding. I smirked and looked at the redhead in victory. "See?" 

Wally began grumbling to himself. "Whatever. I'm going to bed. Night." He stood up, the empty popcorn bucket tumbling to the floor. I rolled my eyes as he trudged off to his room in The Cave. 

"Come on, kids, it's time to go to bed." M'gann stated firmly and they all groaned. They all left for the rooms, muttering to themselves. I sat up from my spot leaning against Dick. I stretched and yawned. 

"I think I'll be going home now." I said. "Are you sure? I'll protect you from those weird monster things if you want." Dick said and I raised my eyebrow internally. He's been acting weird - really weird. 

"Nah. I'm a big girl. I'm not scared of them." I said and stood up. I looked towards M'gann. "Do you want me to change out of these or?" 

"Oh, no, you can return them to me tomorrow." She smiled and I nodded. "Okay, well, goodnight guys. Hey, I need my bow and arrows." I said and M'gann got an oh! look in her eyes. 

"I'll be right back to get them" She said. Lagaan jumped up and began to follow her. "Bye, Artemis." He said and I waved. 

With Connor asleep everything was silent. I could feel Dick's eyes burning into me. I looked down at him but he didn't look away. 

"Is there something you need?" I asked, a sarcastic tone in my voice. He smiled, shaking his head. "No, I'm just wondering how one can be so beautiful." 

My heart starts to beat a bit faster and red colors my cheeks. "Um, o-oh." I lamely stutter out. 

"Here you go, Artemis." M'gann's voice make me jump and I hear Dick chuckle under his breath. I hurry and grab my bow and quiver of arrows from M'gann, still blushing. I rush out to the zeta tube and leave as Dick and M'gann chime in their goodbyes. 

While I'm walking home I find Dick's voice playing back in my head. 

No, I'm just wondering how one can be so beautiful.
