Six days I spent attached to wires, tubes and machines that beeped repeatedly into all hours of the night.
Six days I spent in the company of my own mind, and a nice lady that smelled of vanilla and cedar.
Six days, of sedatives and yelling if I tried to move.
Six days, of dreading the life that I had only recently been born into and six days contemplating if fighting would be worth it.
But finally, the lady that smelled of vanilla took me from the wires, machines and needles. And she put me in the middle of a field. Wildly wondering and wandering, new sights, smells and sensations were a blessing to young yet weary senses. My limbs still didn't fully obey me, so there were frustrating moments, where instead of taking steps, I simply tumbled over myself.
Gradually, over a period of an hour or so, I gained slightly more functional use of my massive paws and short appendages.
"Heightened motor skills?" Said the kind lady. I cocked my head and watched her make lines on paper. I knew I understood her, but a deep feeling in my gut, didn't want her to know I did.
I caught the scent of something sweet and earthy, turning to the side, I bounded after the smell and came across a small, purple flower. I curiously stuck my nose to the petals and sniffed, taking in the deep natural smell. It vastly contrasted the way the "laboratory" reeked of chemicals... and blood.
Moments later, the Lady swept me from the flower, into her arms. She smiled and softly rubbed her hand on my back as she walked.

Back inside the building, we passed lots of other furless people, like the lady, but they all looked different. She had long yellowish hair, always pulled back into a tail. She had dark, scary yet sweet green eyes, and pink lips that contrasted her pale face. If I had been human, I think I would have thought she was very pretty.
Lost in my thoughts as I stared up at her, I was torn away from myself when I heard a deep guttural growl, and smelled fresh blood. The fur on my back and neck stood up and I was snarling. Even though I knew I was young and vulnerable, I wanted to protect the lady.
As I shifted my gaze, I peered through a small glass window and saw another wolf, but she was much bigger than me.
She had crystal blue eyes that were almost identical to mine in color. Similar markings as well.
"The Halo... that's your sister, Canis. Well, kind of. She was manufactured from the same parental genes. The only difference between you two is that, well, she's normal. All the genes in her are recessive. That's why we made you." She trailed off something about how they were going to test her again. I had stopped paying attention when the other wolf's eyes had snapped up to mine. Staring me down in a cold, threatening way. Almost as if saying, "you're next."
"Canis's" nostrils flared as she sniffed, almost certainly trying to catch my scent. I could tell she caught it. Her eyes went wide, she tucked down her tail and her ears went flat. She stumbled backwards and put her head down.
"Holy... I've never seen Canis do that," the lady looked at me, "she came out of the womb on high alert, ready to tear a peice out of whatever came her way." She shook her head, "I'll talk to Dr. Dee about it later," and we continued the trek back to my room.

A few more days of me being hooked up to machines, but this time, they let me walk around and eat and drink as I pleased. Never really took much notice of the furless who walked in or out until it was the lady. Once, I heard one of the furless call her "Jade." I thought it was a pretty name. It definitely out-did my code name, "The Halo"

"We're taking you to the courtyard," Jade said, locking a thick band of plastic around my neck. I didn't like the way it felt but I trusted Jade.
I wasn't sure what the courtyard was, so when she lead me to the same room that I had seen my "sister" in, I was a bit apprehensive to wander inside. She softly pushed me in, lightly using the side of her foot to slide me across the linoleum, past the barrier and into a room filled with other canines.
Instantly my eyes fixated on a white wolf with blue eyes, staring me down from the corner.
All movement and sounds had ceased, leaving me to hear my own thunder-like heartbeat and breath like a great gust of wind. All eyes trained on me and a mix of fear and loathing had begun to seep from every canine in the room. Unsure of what else to do, I stood, and uneasily began making my way toward Canis.

EDIT: It's spring break for me and I don't have a lot to do, so I'll probably upload AT LEAST once a day until Monday. Thanks for reading my story and I hope you like it so far :)
