Diamond Dollface Takes on NYC!
Diamond Dollface set out on their world tour last night, their first stop being Madison Square Garden. The tour had sold out in minutes when tickets went on sale back in January, and the crowds did not disappoint last night.
Fans reportedly camped outside of the venue for four days prior to the concert, desperate to get a front - row view of the band's comeback. This show was highly anticipated as it was the first show since frontman Jeon Jungkook had gotten sober.
Critics and fans alike anxiously awaited to see if this rock prince would live up to his reputation without his substances and they were not disappointed. Jeon ran onto the stage like a man gone feral, though there was a certain sureness that was undeniable in his manner.
The entire band seemed to be thriving off of the same energy source, none of the members looking remotely tired as they went from one powerful hit to the next. The entire venue was lit up with adrenaline, some saying it was the best show they've ever had.
"I have been watching them since their debut and this was the strongest I have ever seen them." tweets user @hobisclementine.
This writer has to agree. Jeon Jungkook still maintains that effortless rockstar aura about him, shotgunning cigarettes with fans and putting bras on his mic stand but he no longer has this dazed look on his face. He was alive, alert. It reminded me of the first time I ever saw them perform on an award show when he was a meager nineteen.
It is clear that Diamond Dollface is back and better than ever.
Jungkook was strongly considering hanging the article up in his living room when he got home. He felt prouder of it than the majority of his accomplishments. His hard work is beginning to pay off.
"Fuck yeah," Hoseok enthused next to him, reading the article over his shoulder. "I'm so proud of you. Last night was the first time in a long time where I really felt like we were a band. You know? It was like the old days."
"It was better than the old days," Jungkook argued around his wide grin. While it was similar in the sense that they finally bonded over a show again, gave it their all, there was none of the insecurity that he had been left with after their shows back then. The adrenaline didn't fade, it just kept on coming until it turned into pure euphoria. He wasn't afraid like he was then, praying he could just be able to do another show. Instead, he knew he was doing another. Tonight, in fact. He couldn't fucking wait.
"Do you think Jimin saw it? Should I send it to him?" He closed his MacBook and pulled his phone out of his pocket, ready to send his manager a direct link to it. He would be so happy with it.
When he wasn't met with a response he looked up to where Hoseok was tuning his guitar in the chair across from his sofa only to find he wasn't looking at his instrument at all. Instead, he stared at Jungkook with that soft, kind expression that made Jungkook feel years younger than he was. "What?"
"He's good for you," the guitarist replied. "I like him. The fans do too."
Jungkook could feel his cheeks turning scarlet red and he averted his eyes instantly to his phone as he pressed send. Embarrassment flooded through him as he tried desperately not to think about all the ways Jimin was good for him.
"Stop talking like we're dating," he argues only for his brows to furrow suddenly. "What do you mean the fans like him too?"
"Wow when the fans say you don't get online you really don't get online, do you?" Hoseok asks with a fond smile. He shakes his head, red hair flying from one side to the other before he returns to strumming at the strings of his guitar, tweaking the pegs as he goes. "Ever since that whole shopping incident where the fans thought he was flirting with you, they've...noticed him around you. Some fans think you're dating, but most just really like how happy you are when you're photographed together. They're really glad you're sober."
